Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous

If you have ever heard of the game Pathfinder: Kingmaker, this game is basically the sequel and has a lot of people excited for its launch. There are already many different trailers that you can watch for the game that helps outline the game, with one of them being six minutes long. Owlcat Games is still a company which requires some extra funding to get the ball rolling and in this case, they raised over two million dollars for the project through kickstarter.

If you are completely new to the game, it is important to understand that this is a role playing game centered around fighting demons and gaining power in the land. You really are trying to close the portal that is allowing these demons into the game, but there are many fun ways to do this. Similar to other games like World of Warcraft or Dungeons and Dragons, you can choose different races for your character.

Gameplay

There are six different paths, as the game calls it, to choose from which generates your appearance and unique skill set. On top of this selection, there are still different races that you can choose from and even more classes of skills, so the options are basically endless. What also makes this game great is that the story does not need to be done in any particular order. Owlcat Games has called it a “non-linear story” which also gives you the freedom to choose different missions to pursue as you go.

If you have ever played open world games such as Skyrim or Fallout, the story system works quite similar. With those games and now this one, there is a main storyline for you to complete to finish the main missions of the game but there are many side missions that you can accomplish as well. This non-linear story allows you to build up your character’s strength and skills prior to going into the main missions, or to simply enjoy the game for a longer period of time. This non-linear story has had much success with other video games, so we are excited to see it being implemented here as well.

Final Verdict

Even though the game is still in development we are rating it an 8/10 due to its previous success and the addition of the unique story mode. With so many combinations of races, classes, skills, and paths you could sit there for hours making unique combinations let alone actually playing the game.
