Red Colony Uncensored

Get ready for the rug pull of the century with Red Colony Uncensored. Now, I know what you’re thinking; you read the word ‘uncensored’ and your eyes lit up like a pinball machine with boobies all over it. Well, I hate to disappoint but that isn’t what this game is about. There is a fair bit of nudity, yes, I won’t deny that you play as an outrageously sexy zombie apocalypse survivor but at no point do you get ravaged by hunky grizzled survivors with a soft streak and hard wiener. In this game, you take the fight to the undead and try to rid your colony of this unholy virus.

Gameplay

So, you want to play a zombie game, huh? Well, you’ve come to the right place. Think of a really low quality, side scroller version of those sexy mods you can get for Resident Evil 2 Remake and you’re in the right ballpark for what this game is. You take control of Maria, one of the last survivors.

This game is pretty straightforward in regards to point and shoot with some explorative sections. Something I found to be pretty interesting is that Maria’s health is indicated through her clothing. The more rips it sustains, the more pieces that go missing, the less health she has. It was subtly, but I found it to be a unique and clever way of conveying this information.

That’s kind of the crux of this game. There are a lot of interesting ideas in this game and, although a few of them don’t quite land or make full sense, the game has a lot of heart that is clear to see.

Explore this scary world and uncover its secrets. Point and click your way to victory with environments that contain a lot of interesting information and ideas. You will find a surprising amount of gameplay in this title. The game has moments reminiscent of Dayz and the Witches House.

Story

The story of the game is that Maria, the player character and CEO of the laboratory like colony that you live within. It exists for the betterment of the world, but a virus outbreak ruins all that effort and turns your colony into a death trap. To make matters worse, your husband, the mayor, has taken this important time to cheat on you with the nanny and, while that is happening, your daughter has gone missing. Its up to you to find out where your daughter has gone and bring her home safe.

Ambiance

Alright, this is essentially a flash game but I won’t deny that there are some parts where the atmosphere is genuinely spooky. A few scenes have left me thinking, “oh damn, that was actually very well done.” And I got to be honest, I don’t get that very often from a lot of games. Even high budget titles can be a bit of a letdown, but this low budget really tries some new things and you really can’t hate on it for the effort.
