Star Citizen

Chances are if you have heard of Star Citizen it is more because of the massive crowdfunding campaign that the game had rather than the game itself. With over 200 million bucks raised! Star Citizen is a game that a lot of people wanted to happen. I am sure that most of these people did not think that the game would take the better part of a decade to happen though!

What Is This Game?

That is the million-dollar (well 250 million dollars) question! The idea of the game is to create the largest MMO space game that has ever been seen. It is a game that features space trading and combat as well as first person sections too which will give the game a more immersive kind of feel.

The Hangar

The first taste of Star Citizen that we all got was the ability to play around with different ships that the game offered. Here you can look at ships as well as modify them and get an idea for the different kind of spacecraft that the game has to offer.

Arena Commander

This is really cool and something I had a lot of fun with. This is the space battles that the full game is going to focus on. Here you can take flight of your craft and battle against AI-controlled ships as well as other human-controlled ships too. It can take a while to get to grips with the controls here as they are going for a more realistic approach.

Join The Marines

The Star Marines that is! Star Citizen is also going to feature first person combat. That is what the Star Marines portion of the game is all about. As of writing, you have a kind of capture the flag style game mode which is a lot of fun. You also have an elimination-style mode where you aim to be the last person left standing.

Space The Final Frontier!

It is pretty amazing the sheer scope that they are going for with this game. You can take part in epic space battles. You can board space stations to trade and deal with other players and you can even land of planets! It really is impressive how large they are trying to make this game and this is not even to mention they are now trying to add in a massive single-player story to the game as well! It is clear that the Wing Commander is the inspiration here and I must say that I am pretty blown away that they are including this in the game. Although this could be the reason why the game is taking so long to be released.

Star Citizen is one of those games where you get the impression that the long development time is going to be worth it. This is no small-scale game that they are trying to make here and when it does get fully released, it is going to be something that blows many people away. Even in the alpha/beta stages that I have experienced there is a great deal to get excited about here and I am super stoked that I decided to support the game.
