The Beatles Rock Band Edition is an award-winning rhythm game developed by Harmonix and published MTV Games, The title was released on all major platforms at the time, the Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, and PlayStation 3. Upon its debut, the game received overwhelmingly positive reviews from fans and critics. It became the first band-centric title developed by Harmonix, and it became one of its most successful titles, technically and commercially.
The Greatest Rock Band In The World
There are countless arguments to back up the fact that The Beatles might be the biggest most influential rock band of all time. Their fame was so widespread and so deep that it took stardom to an entirely different level. The band found success by navigating multiple genres within rock and roll, and their trajectory is beautifully told here in The Beatles Rock Band. Reliving the band’s history is the best part of the game, as we get to play as the fab four, at their most iconic venues and shows. From small venues to their legendary goodbye at the rooftop, the journey itself is enough to make the title surpass being simply a game, to a full experience of their career.
Approved by the remaining members of The Beatles the game was groundbreaking since The Beatles had never been featured in any rhythm game. Harmonix got the rights to develop this game with the blessing of Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison’s son. A vast catalog spanning twelve albums of their discography, containing forty-five songs will surely please new, and old fans. The game also had DLC’s delivering some of their album in their entirety.
Finally, everything here was executed almost flawlessly. Production, artwork, gameplay, visuals, and graphics are some of the best any rhythm game has ever seen. This is a rare title, and since Harmonix’s license expired finding copies, and experiencing this game has been harder and harder.
All You Need is Rock
The gameplay revolves around playing guitar, bass, drums, solo vocal, and harmony vocals. Up to six players are allowed to play the available songs, which makes this a great game for large groups of people. In fact, this is a masterpiece among party games in any mode you and your friends, or family choose to experience it. The game offers multiple watts to experience it, career mode, tug of war mode, online mode, and practice mode.
The Rock Band tradition stands, a track runs towards players and the corresponding notes must be played in order to score points. The tracks have five colors Green, Red, Yellow, Blue, Orange for instruments, and a pitch track for vocals and harmony. Hitting multiple notes in sequence increases your score, and gives you a multiplier on notes hit. Some small changes were made to better represent The Beatles as a band, star power, failing songs, crowd reactions were all tweaked to correspond better towards their success and musical ability.
This is a rhythm game at its finest, retelling the story of one of the world’s most accomplished bands ever. If you have enjoyed Guitar Hero: Metallica, Rock Band 3, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, Rocksmith 2014, or any other Rock Band entry, if you are able to get your hands on this rare game you should do so.
