The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim Special Edition takes one of the best RPGs ever made and refines it even further, with new features, better visuals, and all the content you could ask for. This version includes the original base game, as well as the three downloadable expansions, two of which offer new story quests. This fantastic adventure sees you playing as the Dragonborn, a powerful hero who battles dragons and quests across the land. With few limitations and a world bustling with secrets to find, The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim Special Edition is an impressive improvement.

Main Game Features

  • A dense fantasy world full of quests
  • Includes Dawnguard, Dragonborn, and Hearthfire DLC
  • Enable dozens of game-changing mods

The Elder Scroll V Skyrim Special Edition takes place over 200 years after the events of the previous game, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Set in the cold northern continent of Skyrim, you play as an adventurer who narrowly escapes death and discovers their true destiny as the Dragonborn. Imbued with the ability to absorb dragon's souls, you are directed to the tallest mountain in the land to pursue your fate. However, the land of Skyrim is full of towns to inspect and characters to talk to, leading to hundreds of additional stories.

You can also explore two new major quest lines in the expansions, including the island of Solstheim and the vampire lands in Dawnguard. Both of these expansions offer dozens of hours of content, with brand new characters to meet and locations to explore. The immersion that the narrative of Skyrim allows is remarkable, as you are able to roleplay as any kind of character you want. While the main quest falters in a few places, there are more than enough awesome side-quests to make up for it.

Much like previous games in the series, including The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, this game lets you create your own character and romp around the world at your own pace. However, you are not limited to a specific class, as you can freely upgrade any of the dozen-plus abilities as you play. You'll start the game with barely any money or gear, but after talking to nearby townsfolk and completing some quests, you'll begin to amass some loot. The world of Skyrim is full of locations to explore, including dungeons, clifftops, villages, and massive cities. You'll likely find dozens of quests during your adventures, which lead you to other notable areas full of surprises.

As you play the game and defeat enemies in stunning first-person or third-person combat, you'll naturally level up your character and earn points to unlock new abilities. You are not limited by any sort of class system when you upgrade, so you can mix and match magic, stealth, and melee skills. This goes the same for gear and weapons, letting you wield two-handed weapons while wearing mage's robes and more. It's tons of fun to simply explore the world and live out your perfect fantasy, whether it's slaying massive beasts or buying a beautiful cottage in the hills. The game also comes with some interesting mods that you can enable to fine-tune different aspects of the experience.

The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim Special Edition is a truly amazing RPG that rarely gets boring or repetitive. You can spend endless hours embarking on quests, collecting loot and gear, customizing your character and home, and much more.

With every expansion included and a slew of other game mods available, you'll never run out of stuff to do. If you've never played The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim Special Edition, you should jump right in and never look back.
