If you are already into this then no matter what I say, you are going to be excited for The Elder Scrolls Online – Blackwood. I am right there with you as a huge fan of this series I was not sure how it would translate to the world of online gaming, but I was hooked right from the first release, and now after what feels like forever, we are getting the next part of this epic adventure.
Making A Pact With The Devil
I have always loved the lore of the Elder Scrolls series and with The Elder Scrolls Online – Blackwood, we have the series continuing in a very sinister kind of direction which I think sounds very, very cool. The basics of what are going on here are that Tamriel is now under the greatest threat it has ever seen. The Prince of Darkness has been reached out to by The Longhouse Emperors to make a dangerous pact. I love how evil and dark this whole thing sounds and if the past games are anything to go by, this is going to be a ton of fun.
Deep In The Woods
I think the aesthetic of The Elder Scrolls Online – Blackwood is pretty good. Granted, it does not actually look all that better than what came before it, but I do like the more wood/marshland kind of setting we have here. Plus, the giant Prince of Darkness that you get to see in the trailer looks pretty damn awesome. I am not saying I am disappointed, I just kind of wish that there was a bigger improvement in the visuals.
Everyone Needs A Companion
Much of the gameplay is going to be the same as the previous stuff we have seen in The Elder Scrolls Online. By that I am meaning, you will be taking on a bunch of quests, trying to level up, solve the mystery of what is going on, and deal with a bunch of other character's nonsense of course.
The most notable new addition to Blackwood has to be the companion system. I think it is a legal requirement that anyone who writes about this game talks about it! In all seriousness, I do think that it sounds pretty interesting. There is a companion system here where you never have to go on a quest alone. Each one will have access to their own skill tree and they can be upgraded as you progress through the adventure. I think it sounds really cool and this along with this story is what I am most excited about.
I think that talking about an expansion like The Elder Scrolls Online – Blackwood is kind of tough. If you are into the game, they 100 percent this is for you. It gives you another adventure to go on and I think the new companion systems sounds like it is going to be very interesting. On the flip side of this, if The Elder Scrolls Online or the series, in general, has not done it for you before, I do not see this game here winning you over.
- It is another awesome quest to go on
- I like the premise of the story
- I think the companion system is a lot of fun
- The way your companions can improve is pretty neat
- This is not for people new to the series at all
- I wish there was a bit more of a graphical upgrade
