The vast space has always been one of the most interesting and fun topics to use when viewing any fictional medium. Of course, the science fiction genre is usually more geared towards action, horror, or in many cases political drama, as incredible as that may sound. The Last Cube is an indie adventure video game developed by Improx Games with an expected release date of Q1 2022. Its story invites you to explore an alien world full of history and puzzles.

About the game

In Cube World, discover three-dimensional puzzles in varied and colorful environments. The goal is to prove yourself and save your world from impending ruin. For this, you have to go through different levels full of secrets and additional challenges.

Solve the puzzles in the cubic style. Stick stickers to the sides and use the special powers they grant. You will discover new mechanics and abilities frequently, you will be able to turn, propel, jump, and clone yourself. Curiosity will be the engine of the game. Unravel the mystery of why your world is facing imminent ruin. Going through each stage is a great challenge, however, not everything is just about overcoming the puzzles, since there are also a large number of collectibles hidden in each stage. In addition, we will also find different hidden bonuses throughout the adventure.

Varied and engaging environments

The cube planet is a vast world with a wide variety of brutalist-style constructions. Discover environments that range from misty chasms that look like something out of a nightmare and oppressive factories lit by incandescent lava, to magnificent natural landscapes with sunlit mountains.

These types of puzzles are somewhat similar to those in games like Portal, even though the block theme makes us automatically associate it with other block games like Minecraft. However, talking about the theme of puzzle games combined with block art reminds us more of games like Catherine or Pushmo.

The Last Cube is an adventure and puzzle game that brings a fascinating proposal, which above all maintains minimalism and visuals in its sights. It has a perfect light narrative so that the player can concentrate mainly on the mechanics of gameplay, adventure, and puzzles. After all, the more we progress the get more complicated.

Although simple, The Last Cube's designs and graphics are excellent, and the art also helps make the puzzles more appealing to the player. A problem that breaks a bit with the atmosphere of the game is the soundtrack since it does not live up to the rest of the title on an artistic level. Unfortunately, the gameplay also gets repetitive, and this soundtrack is not very helpful with this.
