You should check out 2017’s The Vagrant made by O.T.K Games is a side-scrolling game that follows a vagabond woman by the name of Vivian Vermillion who is a sellsword. Will this action-packed game bring you all you desire with hours of content and great gameplay? In this review, we will have a look at that for you.

Game storyline

As I have said before, Vivian is a sellsword woman that washes up on a shore of land that is foreign to her. Our protagonist, Vivian is tasked with learning about her past. Later in the game, Vivian comes intertwined with a determined magic-user. This magic user then employees her and gives her a companion named Camden whose real job is being an innocent and misled voice that pries Vivian from the past.

As you play through this game you will notice the traditional yet admiring art style the game uses throughout the game. The game seems to be pastel, painted but in such an appealing way. This may not make the game graphic amazing, with no special 3D effects or anything like that. But it is very pleasing to the eyes and I am sure you will enjoy that factor of the game. Must warn that if you are the type of player that likes half-naked women, this game is probably for you graphicly for that alone. The game, like it, is artwork, take the traditional game mechanic. The game is a scrolling styled game that has an amazing array of scenery. Every scene seems to have its own little details.

Gameplay

Of course, as a side-scrolling game comes with the usual hack and slash. This is where the game shines well. The game uses astonishing animations for the hack and slashes that it is almost blinding. You are able to use multiple combo moves and will learn when to use them best when going up against the range of enemies that you will encounter. Boss battles feel well balanced as they will There are a variety of weaponry that you can choose through the game as you complete tasks and smash bosses. You can make Vivian stronger with the skills and abilities upgrades. If you are a fan of Dragon's Crown, this game may feel familiar due to character design and looks. You will find that there is a strong storyline throughout this game and will keep you entertained through the game!

My verdict

The Vagrant game out of 10 is an 8 for me. I loved the art style first of all. And I know that graphics are not everything, but they really do help. Luckily here graphics in this situation do not disappoint. No, they are not any special 3D effects that blow you away. Instead, they bring it home, traditional art has always been a great art style for side-scrolling games. I guess maybe that is why the graphics seem like they fit with this type of, a traditional game with the traditional art style.

The gameplay is just smooth and enjoyable. Everything from the flashy attacks and the just about perfect boss fights makes the game an easy yes for me. Though the cries that Vivian, when she launches an attack, can get a bit annoying there is not much else, we can do there. The female characters being half-naked are a bit of a hit and miss from some gamers and viewers.
