Akumi Wars

Akumi Wars is one of those games the industry needs, even though they don’t know they need it. The game is a turn-based RPG that doesn’t take itself seriously but at the same time tries to develop a well-written and very interesting story. It’s packed with action, weapons, big monsters, long legs, and jokes that will make you laugh for a long while.

It’s fair to say that the game is still in development, which means you are only seeing a small portion of what it’ll have in the future, but it seems promising!

The Style Of Akumi Wars

This game feels very unique because of its aesthetic. The character design is pretty cool and dynamic. The first impression will always feel like it’s based on any retro flash game so it can bring you many memories back if you were a kid when it was 2010 and flash games were a thing.

The story is beautifully written and it’s filled with gags and jokes while it shows the vast lore of what the creator names the Akumiverse, a story that goes around Akumi, the protagonist of the game and a merciless mercenary at the cute age of 19.

Also, this game isn’t meant for kids, it’s more of a young adult thing, as it has some spicy jokes (but anything too obscene).

The Features

Akumi Wars has a plethora of worlds and locations to explore, more than 30 heroes (or bounty hunters) to unlock, more than 40 monsters to defeat, and more than 50 skills to unlock on every single bounty hunter in your party. The battles resemble titles like Chained Echoes or the first few Final Fantasy titles; pretty simplistic yet very epic Turn-based gameplay. It’s not hard to learn and understand, which is great as it can work as an introduction for those who aren’t into this kind of gameplay.

Also, the developers promised the game will not be a pay-to-win thing, which means the game won’t have any online features, but at least you won’t have to deal with people with absurd amounts of money invested only to create the most powerful yet ridiculous character only meant to destroy you.

We Only Have Battles

Akumi Wars doesn’t have any other game mode rather than the battles, which makes the game feel a bit boring and monotonous sometimes. This can be an issue as it can’t keep the players for a long time unless you get deeply interested in the lore, the story, or the character design.
