Counting on the fact that modern players know the classics in an acceptable format for today. Old fans are also happy to play a game with a familiar name. However, despite the strong influence of nostalgia, the requirements for the games have changed as much as possible. We will tell you whether Astro Duel can defend the title of a good old game.

Gameplay

The principle of the game is very simple. The player controls a minimalistic spaceship that can accelerate forward and backward, spin and dodge shots. The goal is to chase and shoot enemies to survive. Opponents are the same spaceships that have the same abilities, so be on your guard. Ships fight for several rounds, with a certain number of points awarded for each round, at the end of the series a winner is appointed. The game controls are grasped on the fly, so you can quickly get down to the fun. However, there are downsides that make you think twice before playing again. Many lose interest because of the artificial intelligence, which you can get used to very quickly. There are several modes that you can try out individually, but they are only interesting in multiplayer. I present you three modes, which the player will have to deal with Astro Duel:

• Classic. Invite three friends, connect to the local network and fight. Different locations allow for more variety.
• Chaos Mode. Six players fight six players who can attack each other
• Too Many Hands Party mode is an interesting solution. Here up to four players can use two buttons to rotate and shoot. Controls are minimal, the ships move automatically. If you do find three other players, it's a good idea for a party.

The pixel graphics are nice to look at and certainly good in fine detail. The frame rate flows very smoothly and doesn't cause any problems. Although the soundtrack won't be memorable for long, the sound effects accompany the gameplay well. You can control it through a special device like the Joy-Con. Of the minuses, it can be noted that there is not enough variety for modern requirements. Of course, it should be understood that the game is a relaunch of the old classics. The possibility of multiplayer is a definite plus. Battles with friends are fun, because the classics do not die.
