BattleBeasts

Full disclosure here folks when I first heard about BattleBeasts, I was very hopeful that this was going to be a game based on those awesome little toys from the 80s. You know the ones, they were animal-based warriors and you would rub a hologram on their chest to see what faction they were in. Anyway, after I realized that this game was not that, I looked into it some more and got pretty excited by the kind of MMO sci-fi 3rd person shooter action that it was said to be offering.

Machines Gone Wild

As I write this, BattleBeasts is still in early access and I am sure that they are going to flesh out the story. Still, what is here so far has certainly grabbed my attention. The world the game is set in is called, Planet Shima and it attracts adventurers and people looking to get rich from all over the galaxy as it is very rich in resources.

The problem is, this is no ordinary world. There are these machines here that have gone crazy and will attack any kind of intelligent life. While you may have come here for the loot, you also get pulled into the mystery of what happened here. The game has an awesome sci-fi vibe going on. I love the look of this planet, the robots and creatures you fight, and the very cool weapons that you can use too.

Beasts Ready For War!

As the title tells you, you are not just playing as an average joe in this game. Instead, you get to make your own “beast” there are a ton of races, I liked fox looking one best by the way. As you play through the game, you are always looking for ways to improve your character. Not just in the way they look, but through a very deep research/skill tree system that has a ton of ways for you to get new cool stuff.

A Couple Of Weeks

I have to say that I feel Fortnite is a massive influence on this game. It has that Battle Royale kind of feel to it and there is the whole building aspect too where you need to gather resources so that you can build. They also give you a speeder bike-type thing to zoom around with. The shooting feels very much like Fortnite and while some may criticize them for this, I think it was a very smart move to try and emulate one of the best shooters that is out there right now.

You can play the game on your own and from what I have seen, tons of people can be in a match (I think it is at 150 as of writing) you may want to team up or you can see how well you can do on your own.

Pros:

• Lots of awesome beasts for you to create and play as
• I like how it has taken many of the best things from Fortnite
• The action looks to be very fast-paced
• This is the kind of game that is sure to be a lot of fun to play with your buddies

Cons:

• I do worry that the player base will die off as people go back to Fortnite
• I really hope that it does not become a pay to win style of game
