Most karting games like Mario Kart 64 and Crash Team Racing follow the same motif. You choose from a cast of wacky characters then race and fight your way to 1st place. Coffin Dodgers takes that familiar formula, replaces the cast with a set of wacky geriatric racers on mobility scooters and adds a survival mechanic to the racing formula. In this crazy take on a well-established genre, you’ll zoom, blast, shoot and fling around a retirement community as you experience near brushes with the Grim Reaper himself.
Hang onto your hat as we check out everything you need to know about Coffin Dodgers.
Save Seven Souls
The Grim Reaper has made his way to Sunny Pines Retirement Community and he’s out to collect seven souls on their last leg.
But these retired folks aren’t looking to go down without a fight. Using their high-powered mobility scooters and homemade weapons, they’ll do whatever it takes to...dodge the coffin. In Coffin Dodgers, you’re not just trying to get first place. You’re also trying not to be the last to cross the finish line. Be one of the last to make it to the end and the Grim Reaper will get what he came for.
Choose from a uniquely-designed set of retired old folks who’re merely looking for a quiet place to spend their last years. They simply don’t want the end to come right this instant. Coffin Dodgers swaps out the familiar karts and rocket cars for good old-fashioned mobility scooters. They’re still fast and furious, though, as slamming into walls and fences leads to epic ragdoll physics of geriatric proportions.
Who said that the internet was the death of split-screen couch multiplayer? It’s true that a lot of games these days forego this feature. Not Coffin Dodgers. With up to four-player multiplayer on a single screen, you’ll be duking it out with your friends like it was meant to be.
Of course, there still are a host of online multiplayer modes, spanning across several open-world maps filled with weapons and obstacles to create some epic retiree-style mayhem.
Coffin Dodgers doesn’t bring too much new to the table of kart racing. What it does do uniquely, though, is fun and addictive. Its campaign is quite short but the replayability value from its local and online multiplayer make it more than worth the price of entry.
