In this heart pounding Sci-Fi game, EVOTINCTION puts players in the role of a researched named Dr. Liu that must infiltrate an AI controlled facility to help take it back. To complicate matters, Dr. Liu has no combat training whatsoever, and is only average at best with most melee skills. Instead, Dr. Liu is a hacker, who specializes in disruption and distraction. Players will have to use Dr. Liu’s unique tech skills to try to push through the facility to regain control.
Sharp Graphics
The moment players begin the game, it’s obvious that the graphics are a cut above average. Movement and animation are extremely sharp, the backgrounds are detailed, and the bots creatively designed. The result is an immersive experience that makes playing the game more engaging compared to other steam games.
Stealth Missions
Since combat is out of the question, this game is more focused on stealth and using technology to boost your abilities than actual combat. The result requires some degree of skill from the player, and adds a fresh new angle to gameplay. Although Evotinction takes place in a facility, it has strong Pragmata vibes.
Well Developed World
In an interview with GamingBolt, Gu Xingyan, the director and producer of Evotinction spoke about the care and level of detail that went into planning the world. The game team sat down and tried to come up with what a team of top scientists might be able to create if given free reign, and how that could go wrong. The result is the backdrop for Evotinction, but on top of that is the unique blend of hacking and stealth that makes up the games core. The developers wanted to create something a little more realistic to what a character entering this facility might be like.
On top of this, the game is planned to work with several different playstyles. Levels can be completed with these different, unique takes, whether that’s extreme stealth, hacking, or both. The result is a game that is flexible with the type of player.
Silly Name
There’s no doubt that Evotinction has a lot going for it. Adding hacking to a stealth game is a burst of originality not seen in the genre in years. The graphics are amazing, and the world is well developed. Yet despite how promising this game is, most of the comments on the trailer are focused on just one thing—the name. Evotinction does not roll off the tongue well, and because of that many players think it should have been something better, perhaps “Evostinction” so it’s a little easier to pronounce. Regardless of the name however, there’s no doubt this will be one of the most original stealth games released in a long time.
If you’re a fan of stealth games, you’re likely well aware that the stealth genre has been a bit lacking in originality lately. This game promises to change all that, with an exciting and original new combination. Evotinction is due out in mid-September, and should certainly be on the wish list of any gamer who enjoys stealth games.
