When it comes to the biggest games of 2024, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is right up there at the top of the list when it comes to the BIGGEST! Hey, you are either a cod fan or you are not, but I never understand these cod haters that bitch about each game yet never play them! I love this series and I think that this year's game is shaping up to be something really special. Today, I am doing a little preview of the stuff I think is most exciting to talk about
From The Cold War To The Gulf War
I am someone who has loved most of the Call of Duty campaigns, with Call of Duty Infinite Warfare being my favorite. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is serving as a sequel to Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War. The game has been touted as a “dynamic and intense spy thriller” that takes place after what went down in Cold War and will feature a new version of the Gulf War. It sounds pretty awesome stuff indeed and I have for the most part always felt the campaigns in the cod series are far better than people giving them credit for.
No Longer Walking The Straight And Narrow
One of the things that I have loved about past campaigns is that they made you feel like you were playing a part in a blockbuster action movie. With Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 you are still going to have that, but the campaign is not as linear as it has been in the past. They have spoken about dialogue trees with NPCs that can alter things a bit as you progress. There is also the fact that you have much more freedom with how you tackle missions, including a briefing type room situation where you can try and decide how you want to do things. There have been a few people who have said the campaign this time around has a bit of an open-world feel to it which is very interesting.
Running And Gunning
The core gameplay experience of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 sounds like it is going to be as much fun as always. We can now sprint, dive, and slide in any direction which is sure to make the classic run and gun gameplay of Call of Duty even more frantic which sounds super exciting. They are bringing back the prestige system and on launch there are going to be 16 maps to wage war on. I tend to play the multiplayer first and then just into multiplayer, but I always spend a lot of time in multiplayer and it looks to me like they are taking what has worked in the past and mixing it with some cool and fun sounding new ideas too.
Zombies, Zombies, Zombies!
To say that I love zombies mode is a massive understatement, but on a personal level, Call of Duty Infinite Warfare is the peak of zombies modes for me. However, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is trying to make it more squad based where we are really required to work as a team to get the best out of it. At launch, we have two maps with one being a small mountain town and the other being a prison. How can you not love zombies? This is the one mode in the game where I am actually trying to avoid reading much about it as I want to be as surprised as possible, but even the stuff they showed in the trailer had me very excited.
How the heck have I managed to make it to the end of this Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 preview without talking about the fact that this game is going on Game Pass on day one? This is truly one of the biggest titles that has done this and it makes me wonder if Microsoft will sell a ton more Xbox Series consoles this holiday season as a result. I have been getting excited about the annual Call of Duty game since Call of Duty 3 on the Xbox 360 and thanks to games like this one here, I do not see that stopping any time soon.
Pros:
- The campaign sounds epic
- I like how the campaign is not as linear
- Zombies mode is launching with two very different maps
- Multiplayer is offering 16 maps at launch!
Cons:
- There will no doubt be many haters who have never played a cod game complaining!
- How long until the full zombies experience is released?
