Fueled Up

Don't let the name deceive you: Fueled Up has nothing to do with cars or racing. What it is is an exciting couch multiplayer title where the objective is to help stranded spaceships before the evil space octopus can drag them into the deeps of space. Hilarity ensues.

In the same vein as games like Moving Out or Overcooked, Fueled Up is an excellent party game that invites players to share the joy with their friends – and also their frustrations when said "friends" fail to complete even the most basic objectives. In short, this is the perfect game to test how close you and your friends really are.

Hectic Missions

Every ship you rescue in Fueled Up comes with a variety of issues that you must resolve quickly before the space octopus comes. From extinguishing fires to avoiding meteor showers, there are dangers aplenty in this game for you and your friends to evade.

Teamwork proves to be the most essential tool of them all in Fueled Up. However, as is usually the case in these games, working together can prove more difficult than it sounds. After all, with so many things happening all at once, you never know where to look for trouble – or whether trouble will find you first.

It's all good fun, though, and it's clear that Fueled Up was never meant to be an intensely competitive affair. As a party game, this title excels at what it's supposed to do.

Plenty of Options

Can't play locally with your friends? No problem, then! Fueled Up has players covered, offering a wide range of multiplayer options that should cater to every type of player and multiplayer setup.

While it's undeniable that couch co-op is the star of the show in this game, there's also the possibility of playing in the conventional online multiplayer mode. The party lives on, even if none of your friends could make it to the party itself.

The most curious of the multiplayer options present in this game, however, is the option to share a controller with another player. We've seen something similar in some other titles (Manual Samuel comes to mind,) but it only adds to the game's overall chaotic energy.

Challenge Yourself

Aside from completing the standard missions and just having a good time, players can also face bonus challenges. These trials are essentially additional objectives for every mission – once completed, they give you bragging rights, and new customization options.

Fueled Up allows players to express themselves by offering a quirky selection of space engineers to choose from. From space cats to brains in a jar (and even a banana!) Fueled Up proves once again that, in multiplayer games, style reigns supreme.

All in all, this is a game that guarantees hours of fun for parties and multiplayer in general. It might not offer anything significantly new within its own genre, but it does everything good enough to at least deserve a try – and also put your friendships to the test.
