Hitman was a game that I really had very low expectations of. I loved the first couple of games on the PlayStation 2, but the series really started to feel phoned in as the years progressed. The 2016 Hitman game really did take the series in a great direction and while when it was released the episodic format was not something I liked; you can now play the whole game altogether.
Hello Agent 47
The basic idea of Hitman is the same as it has always been. You play as the most badass assassin around, Agent 47! The game has a ton and I mean a ton of different missions for you to do. The story of the game is not something I feel is one of its strongest points. As far as I am aware it does try and follow on from the lore that came before it which can kind of be a mess in places. I really think this should have wiped the slate clean and just been 100 percent its own thing.
The presentation of the game is kind of all over the place. I get what they were going for here, but the earlier parts of the game do have much less polish than the rest of them. When the game was first released there were some that said the “episodic” nature of the game was due to it not being fully finished! I do not know if I actually agree with that, but the whole game does have a bit of a “rough around the edges” feel to the presentation.
You Are The Hitman!
One of the things that is most fun about Hitman 2016 is the way the game does not hold your hand. The maps in the game (of which there are many) have so many ways for you to take down your target. You can try and take them out from a distance and just get the job done, or you can do a hugely convoluted plan that is so much fun when you pull it all together. I have completed missions my accident and have had some of my amazing plans foiled by the dumbest of things.
Hitman is a game that will make you angry, laugh and want to record what you are doing. It is just such a fun experience and each mission you take on will have you rubbing your hands together as you plan what is the best way to take down your targets. There are some more linear moments in the game, but for the most part, you are left to figure out the best way to complete a mission.
The best way that I can describe Hitman 2016 is that it is fun. I really did not expect much from this game, but it is just so addictive. Coming up with creative ways to take down targets really is something that I enjoyed. This is the kind of game that you can easily waste a couple of hours with when you only intended to play for 30 minutes! If you love action games, especially those that will not just make you think but make you laugh too, check this one out.
