Welcome to the Torch World--the land of many interesting creatures that carry a mean attitude, at least around Izzy. Izzy is a cute, little blue animal-like thing on a quest to find the five rings that were stolen from the Atlanta Olympic games. In order to find them all, Izzy has to venture through the Torch World until they are found. Along the way, pick up medallions that will heal you after being attacked. There are two ways Izzy has to defeat the other creatures. The first is the spin-jump that will land a crushing blow to the opponent. The second is a Morph Attack. Izzy can morph into several different animations to overcome the bad guys!
FIRST IMPRESSION
Entertaining little character, but could not tell what the heck it was! It kind of reminded me of Sonic except for the special morphing feature.
BEST FEATURE
The best feature of Izzy has to be the art. The cartoony characters make the game, especially the bad guys! But I also enjoyed the morphing feature. It was fun bashing a villain with a bat and skating like a madman!
WHATS MISSING
While playing the game, the movements were a little slow. The idea of finding medallions was a good one. but there just needed to be more hidden items or stages.
WILL YOU LIKE IT?
If you enjoy action games you will probably enjoy this one. The idea of making a video game based on the '96 Olympics was clever. By the time the finished product comes out. it will relieve some of the quirks I had to deal with. Overall, it's cute!

The only fun part of this game is trying to figure out just what the hell this Izzy character is! The game is slow and boring, with absolutely no replay value whatsoever. Remember, this is the game that ended Vinny DiMiceli's career!

Who's Izzy? Well, Izzy is the official mascot for the 1996 Olympic Games and he represents the spirit of the torch and the Olympic ideal. This game is just the start of Izzy mania - there's going to be a cartoon series, six-and-a-half-story balloons, CD-Rom titles, Greeting Cards, special Coca-Cola cans, and all kinds of cheesy souvenirs.
In the game Izzy is out to recover magical Olympic rings so he can actually get to Atlanta to compete. Izzy has your usual side-scrolling abilities, like jumping on heads and climbing, along with the ability to morph into a baseball player, a rocket, an archer, a skateboarder, and more. Does all this equal great gameplay? As of yet, we don't know, but by next month we'll have a full report on the little blue guy and you'll know whether Izzy is an Olympic game or a Special Olympics game.

Izzy, the Olympic r mascot, is searching for the five Olympic rings to ensure that the '96 Summer Games get under way. He ain't too hip, and he ain't that hype, but he's a cute little platform hopper with a decent game.
Izzy Target
Players guide Izzy through ten straightforward platform levels. Izzy splats enemies with jumping attacks and morphs into one of eight characters, including a hang glider and a skateboard. The infrequent morphing, however, isn't integral to the action.
ProTip: In the Elder's challenge, stay clear of the walls and use your speed sparingly.
With nice detail and a visually stimulating Izzy, the graphics are sharp; in fact, they're almost identical to the Genesis versions. Izzy's enthusiasm shines through every frame of animation.
The sound echoes Izzy's Olympic spirit with blasting trumpets and great effects. The music, unfortunately, is more smurfy than inspiring.
Slow and Izzy
Although the skill level is adjustable, the game's style caters to novices. With just a long jump and an attack jump, Izzy's controls are simple -- but even as a young player's game, there are some tricky spots.
When you drop to this Izzy checkpoint, bear right. Jump behind the large rock to find the hidden baseball morph, then go back to the left of the checkpoint and smash through the wall to find a 1-up.
Plenty of discoveries in the twisting levels makes Izzy's Quest fun. Hidden areas are everywhere, and each screen contains numerous Easter eggs (literally painted eggs) housing power-ups and bonuses. You'll have a good time jumping around with Izzy, but you probably won't need to add him to your collection.
Destroy all the stump creatures around this outcropping in the first level. Be sure that no more appear, then enter and grab the 1-up.
Although "Olympic" appears in the title, "Sonic" would be a better fit; this game plays more like the hedgehog's platform hopper than a sports sim. As a fun action/adventure game, Izzy earns a bronze medal.
Take It izzy
The 1996 Summer Games seem far off, but not for Izzy. As the Olympic mascot, he must search the Torch World to collect the five Olympic rings that keep the torch lit. In this ten-level quest, Izzy morphs into eight sporting characters, collecting power-ups and loads of bonuses.
Nice backgrounds bring colorful detail to lzzy's world, but it's Izzy himself who stimulates the game visually. His numerous and determined expressions make him an easy- to-like character.
The sound effects are enjoyable with great splats, smashes, and blasting trumpets. His smurfy soundtrack, however, would have been better left in the '80s.
Izzy Come, Izzy Go
With a long jump and an attack jump, Izzy's clean, simple controls are perfect for younger gamers. But even at the harder of the two difficulty settings, the game won't challenge veteran adventurers.
The morphing segments add interest, but they feel like an afterthought. They aren't as long or as important as you would expect.
The quantity of hidden objects really livens up this game. Easter eggs (really, they're painted eggs) are hidden on every screen.
Izzy might not be a keeper, but it's a guaranteed good rental, especially for novices.
ProTips:
- As "the javelin" Izzy, you may look sharp, but you're still vulnerable. Avoid as many dangers as you can and aim for medals to restore your energy.
- Repeatedly tap Button B as the "hammer-throwing"Izzy to rise to higher platforms.
- Be sure to morph into "the fencing" Izzy before tackling these Izzy-eating plants.
The ancient Greeks ignited the first Olympic torch thousands of years ago. Now, the eternal flame has been stolen. Izzy, the Olympic character, must travel through six worlds to collect the five Olympic rings and return the eternal flame. Naturally, Izzy will encounter some heavy resistance. Luckily, he can morph into a variety of forms to get past any obstacle. If his health takes a hit, collect the gold, silver, and bronze medals to recharge. When he completes a quest, Izzy can participate in a special bonus stage. Ignite the Olympic flame and keep the 1996 games from being cancelled in Izzy's Quest for the Olympic Rings.
Izzy's Quest for the Olympic Rings Special Features:

- Six worlds to explore
- Morph into different forms
- Variety of enemies
