|Action Adventure Games, RPGs
The action-adventure genre has a lot of diverse titles to choose from, all with their own unique mechanics and draws. Planet Explorers is one such game that attempts to stray away from the norm by offering up more freedom of creativity as well as a host of gameplay options that enables players to make the game their own. As a planetary explorer, you’ve crash-landed onto a planet and you’re tasked with establishing a foothold onto this uncharted planet in order to learn more about its environment, flora and fauna.
Let’s take a closer look at what makes Planet Explorers a worthwhile title to explore.
Explore a New World
After crash landing onto an unknown planet, you find yourself placed on the path of discovery as you’re given a mission to learn more about this new world.
Through a series of missions and quests, either through first-person or third-person perspective, you’ll traverse across the planet’s harsh environments. Each zone you enter has its own unique terrain and is filled with creatures of both a docile and hostile nature.
Build Whatever You Want
The key element that separates Planetary Explorers from other games of its category is the ability to build and create pretty much anything you want. From putting together custom vehicles to constructing elaborate weapons and gadgets, the game offers a huge amount of options to equip yourself to get any job done. On top of all this, you can change the terrain around you through terraforming and build a base of operations that’ll provide you with more resources and crafting capabilities.
Choose Your Way To Play
Another unique aspect of this action-adventure game is that it offers three different modes to choose from. Story mode takes you through a campaign-style single player mode where you take on quests and missions while roaming through a set map. Adventure mode, on the other hand, kicks the crazy into high gear by procedurally generating maps. You can pick the type of planet and climate you want to play on and the game does the rest. Even the quests and events that occur are random.
Finally, Builder mode is Planetary Explorers’ de facto creative mode. There are no enemies to fight and you have unlimited resources to build and create whatever you want.
If you’ve been looking for an action-adventure game that blends elements of base-building and creativity then Planetary Explorers is a great title to dive into. The best part is that if you don’t fancy playing one type of game, the title offers others modes of play to fit your mood.
- Unique blend of action-adventure and base-building in one title.
- Infinite possibilities for playthroughs in Adventure mode.
- Customization options make the game more personal.
- Graphics feel a bit dated for its time.
- Story mode feels bland and not very expansive.
