You’ll love the fact that Psychonauts 2 is on the horizon. After 16 years, its finally coming out so prepare your brain for the weirdness to begin. Follow Raz, the protagonist from the previous game as he continues his journey into being a full-fledged Psychonaut and most likely saving the world from some crazy nonsense as per his want. What I don’t understand is how a 10-year-old can take such initiative. Anyway, don your little flight cap and goggles and let’s get in there.

Gameplay
From what we’ve seen, this game is looking to be a pretty interesting puzzle platformer with a lo of interesting twists on its formula and level design. As a lot of the game takes place within the mindscapes of other non-playable characters, there will likely be a lot of gravity and logic defying and should make you push your creative problem-solving capabilities to the limit.
Using psi abilities like levitation and telekinesis and such to navigate the world, you’ll be doing a considerable amount of running and jumping in between the heavy story moments. It will continue with the humour and gameplay style portrayed in other games by Double Fine like Brutal Legend or other games franchises like Banjo-Kazooie, Super Mario 64 or Spyro.
Visuals
The visuals of this game will continue on with the style portrayed in the previous. Things will look weird and spooky and somewhat like its all been pulled from an animated Tim Burton movie but you really can’t knock it. Its unique and memorable in a way that many games can’t quite capture without going too far and becoming downright nonsense. As stated in the gameplay, the world of Psychonauts spends a considerable amount of time within the mindscapes of others. This offers the chance for things to look wonderful and intriguing, to stretch the imagination and provide a unique world that stretches farther into unreal than the previous has done.
Story
The story in this game has been stated to continue on with the story as it follows from the previous game. Raz will have to figure out why his organisation is changing and moving toward strange new practices. Allegedly, Raz’s journey in this game will explore topics such as his family, their history, the strange curse that appears to afflict them, as well as what it means to be a boyfriend. Jack Black is in this so we could be seeing some of his humour, similar to the Kung Fu Panda games with his high frenetic energy and musical tendencies.
We don’t yet know what heights this game could reach but there is a strong possibility that its going to be brilliant. If you get the chance, give it a go.
