Set sails for a sea of physics-based adventures and build the ship of your dreams in Sea of Craft, the latest in creative construction games. This game offers players a chance to construct impressive vessels and explore a vast ocean, all the while they avoid the dangers that lurk both above and below the surface of the sea.
Thanks to its impressively rich vehicle creator, Sea of Craft is set to be the perfect game for the creative gamers out there. Meanwhile, the rich open world and gorgeous water physics will satisfy most graphics enthusiasts. Let’s take a look at what we can expect from the full game in our preview.
Build and Share
The most important aspect of Sea of Craft is the ability for players to create whatever ship they can dream of. The game’s ship builder functions similarly to what we’ve seen in other vehicle creator games, like Besiege or Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts.
Players can choose from a vast array of ship pieces, gadgets, and other doodads to customize their vessels. In Sea of Craft, the sky is the limit when it comes to the types of vehicles you can create, literally. Even though ships seem to be the preferred method of transportation in this game, that doesn’t mean players can’t build other types of vehicles, like helicopters, using the game’s robust building tool.
Thankfully for players who aren’t as patient when it comes to building games, building vehicles in this game is very straightforward. Even better, the game’s UI is clean and simple and never gets too technical with complicated explanations or other common mistakes we’ve seen in games like this one.
After you’re done building your vehicle, you’re all set to sail through the game’s massive sea. If you’re proud enough of the ship you’ve built, you can share your blueprints with the world. Who knows, maybe you’ll run into a modified version of your ship as you embark on your adventures.
Considering that the game features an impressive 64km² open world, it would be pretty lonesome if you had to sail alone. Luckily, Sea of Craft features multiplayer functionality in the form of PvP and cooperative PvE.
Players can collaborate with each other to defeat some of the game’s most fearsome bosses, or simply sink other vessels in a frantic PvP environment. As is the case with the building mechanics, freedom seems to be the most important thing when it comes to Sea of Craft’s open seas gameplay.
Managing your resources while you sail is also a pivotal part of the gameplay – and sacking resources from other players is as valid an option as any when it comes to staying alive in this game.
Water and Physics
When it comes to building an efficient ship, players will have to take into consideration how their vessels interact with the water’s surface. Sea of Craft has some impressive water physics on display, with its realistic waves rocking ships back and forth.
While the water is certainly visually impressive, some other parts of the game’s landscape could be a bit rougher around the edges. For instance, the land textures all look very flat and drab compared to the sea ones. It makes sense, though, as Sea of Craft is a predominantly nautical game.
Sea of Craft is an impressive crafting game where players are given free rein to create whatever vehicles they can come up with. The entertaining exploration, neat visuals, and solid multiplayer experience are just the icings on this cake.
