As you would expect from a collect-a-thon, this game has you take control of the main character, in this instance a small Kiwi bird, and has you running around to find and pick up every collectible you can. This requires a fundamental grasp on the gameplay, which is pretty straightforward to pick up, but it also requires a tenacious attitude and perhaps a few collectibles in some hard-to-reach places that will have you trying a few different techniques to get to them. With tight and responsive controls, there is a lot to love about how it handles.

The majority of the gameplay focuses around this central loop, though you may have to avoid enemies or even defeat a few just to get by. The game is not a far departure from classic titles like Banjo-Kazooie or Donkey Kong 64, both of which share the gameplay concept that the player must investigate every nook and cranny before moving on to the following area.

Visuals

Visually, for the time and genre that the game is trying to replicate, this looks perfect. Almost an exact replica of the era, the style of the world, level designs, and characters, all fit what they used to look like. The game looks as though it could have been released the same year as Super Mario 64.

The stages are all vibrant and colorful, with unique themes and visuals for each. The way the Kiwi bird bounces and squishes when jumping is an absolute joy to behold. If you are looking to compare this titles style and graphical quality to modern games it will look disappointing but this is a specific genre from a specific era, and for those who loved these games from back then will find it to be the perfect recreation of everything they loved.

Music

Your most loyal companion on this collectible fueled journey will be the soundtrack, so thank goodness it is filled with bangers. The music in this title sets the perfect atmosphere for your adventure. With music that sounds like it relies largely on a stylish flamenco guitar to get your blood pumping, you’ll enjoy every step of this quest and maybe even listen to the soundtrack in your own time as well. It’s that good.
