In this free indie horror game, you play Megan, a girl returning to Pineville in order to receive an inheritance left to her by her mother. Things head south quickly however, as hidden dangers come to the surface. This game is based on a true story, which makes the story all the more chilling. While the names have been changed to protect the victims, it is based on a true case.

Old School Graphics

The game has an intentional VHS style look. It suits the style of the game, and adds a sense of creepiness to the overall style of the game. Despite the intentional low-quality look to the game, there’s a surprising amount of detail to the game. Everything is moody and dark, and the poor appearance to the animations adds to the horror of the game.

Similar to Fears to Fathom

The game has a lot in common with Fears to Fathom, a similar episodic indie horror game. They both have the VHS style aesthetic, an atmospheric environment, and have episodes based on reality. Most people who have played both games draw the comparison and find them very similar.

Short but Thrilling

The game only lasts about an hour and a half, but it takes you through the story decently in that time. It shares the three important phases in the storyline, and what happens during those phases. Although it is very well done, there are a few flaws that could be improved in the game.

The worst part is that every single male is shown as incredibly dark and creepy. Lenny is supposedly your best friend, but in the opening scene he is just as horrifying and creepy as everyone else. The music also keeps playing suspense music that makes you feel like you’re at a high point at tension, even when you’re not. Imagine being in a movie where the victim is screaming all the time, even at the ice cream parlor before anything bad happens. Although it’s clear the developers are working hard to add suspense early on, the quiet before the storm can add to the tension as well.

Satisfying Ending

After completing the game, the developers tell you a little bit more about the case, including what happened to the terrible stalker presented in this particular one. It’s interesting to get closure on what happened after the game concludes. As terrifying as the game is, it’s more terrifying to know these people exist.
