If you've ever wanted to pit your favorite animals against one another in battle, then Territory: Animals Genetic Strategy is a game that lets you do just that. It's a fun idea, and it's interesting to go through the process of figuring out which traits and upgrades your animal needs to take down other beasts.
Battle of the Biomes
Territory: Animals Genetic Strategy is a new strategy game from developer Simplemole. You can choose to play against either the computer or another human opponent in various modes in the game. You can even use your own custom-created genomes to compete against the computer or other players in multiplayer mode!
The basic gameplay involves creating an army of animals and sending them into battle against your opponent. Each animal has its own unique genome that determines its traits—an eagle genome that may give a bird flight, while an armadillo one might give armored skin and claws—and these traits make up each unit's strength in combat. It's an excellent idea, and it's fun to go through adding different attributes and upgrades to your animals, ranging from panda bears to polar bears to dinosaurs.
The gameplay involves breeding animals to create a team of creatures that will defeat your foes. You can choose from various animals, including panda bears and polar bears. You can upgrade your animals by adding new abilities, skills, and attributes. Abilities include things like "growl" or "roar." Skills refer to something like "swimming" or "burrowing." Attributes are physical characteristics like being fast or strong or having big teeth.
Evolution Isn't Perfect
However, the biggest issue with Territory: Animals Genetic Strategy is the lack of depth in terms of gameplay and the adjustments you can make to your animals. The game consists of two main modes: exploration and combat. In exploration mode, you will explore various areas to find new genes (which are used to create new species) or other materials that can be used for crafting new equipment for your animal. Combat mode involves fighting against other animals to gain territory or access more genes.
You'll be able to add attributes such as speed and strength, but some more experimental options like horns or wings can give your animals special abilities when they fight other animals. Some upgrades are permanent, while others may wear off after several encounters with enemy soldiers; it's up to you how many upgrades you want each animal to have before entering combat.
There's nothing particularly strategic about this one; there aren't many options for how you can evolve your creatures, and they seem pretty much interchangeable with each other in gameplay terms (although some are better than others). There are also no real surprises along the way -- you won't be amazed by any unexpected developments in the story -- which means that there's no real reason to continue playing once you've completed all three biomes because there isn't anything else left to do!
Conclusion
So, if you're looking for a fun way to spend some time playing with animal genomes and watching them fight one another, then this game is worth checking out.
However, if you're hoping for something a little more complex and strategic, it might be best to look at Dune Spice Wars, Prehistoric Kingdom and Jurrasic World Evolution 2.
