Let me start by saying that Watch Dogs 2 is a million times better than the first game! I thought the first game was a very disappointing experience that eventually got better. With this game, they took what they learned from the first game and make it something that is a great deal of fun. So much fun that the next game. Watch Dogs Legion is one of my most anticipated games for the coming generations of consoles.
I Am A Happy Go Lucky… Murderer Type Of Guy!
The story that we have here is one that I really enjoyed. The protagonist in this game is not the same boring dude from the first. Watch Dogs 2 stars, Marcus Holloway. He is played as a happy go lucky kind of hacker who joins up with the Dedsec group of hackers who are working in the Bay area to try and expose how corrupt the government is and how this amazing new technology is not all that it is cracked up to be.
Marcus is a really cool character and I loved watching him in cutscenes. The problem is the game portrays him as a nice, kind of laid-back dude. This means when you have to mow down 15 cops with a machine gun it feels out of place.
A Hackers Life For Me
Watch Dogs 2 is a 3rd person action/adventure game. That is the best way to describe it in my opinion. You have a ton of missions that you need to complete in the story mode and most of these are about you having to infiltrate a place to get data from it. What is really cool about this is that you have many ways that you can go about this. I loved using my drones and trying to get in and out without any detection. Of course, things will go wrong and you will get into lots of firefights as you play as well. These are cool. You can just try and go toe to toe with enemies if you want and that is fine. You can also make use of your hacking talents as well. For example, you can call a rival gang or the cops with some fake information and have them kill each other leaving you to get away scot-free!
Under The Hood
I have put a ton of hours into Watch Dogs 2 and had a great time doing so. There is so much variety to the things you can do in the game. While the awesome recreation of the Bay area may not be as large as what you get in a Rockstar game. The world that you have to play in here is full of life and tons of things for you to screw around with.
As is the case with any open-world game. Driving is something you will be doing a great deal. This is one part of the game where it kind of struggles. In high-speed chases, I found that the game would take a pretty noticeable hit in the frame rate department.
There are also some really cool multiplayer modes for you to have fun with. My personal favorite is the one where you cause a ton of mayhem and the cops call in other players to try and bring you down!
While the first game may not have set the world on fire. I feel that Ubisoft more than made up with it here with Watch Dogs 2. It is a fun time and it has a story that is way more entertaining than most people give it credit for. Add to this a ton of side content for you to mess around with and a steady stream of upgrades and progression. You always feel like there is something to do or something to work towards.
