Great Ambition of the SLIMES

As you have come to this Great Ambition of the SLIMES page, I assume that you are like me and someone that always gets a kick out of a game that has slimes. Slimes for the most part and in most games are kind of weak and useless and that rings true here. However, these slimes are actually pretty damn special and as the game title says, these slimes have a lot of ambition and have their sights on taking over the world, but how can little weak slimes possibly do that?

Little Slimes Big Ambitions!

The whole point of the game is that we are in command of a bunch of slimes, hence the title, Great Ambition of the SLIMES. These slimes though are extra special. They know that they are no match for humans or the demons that inhabit this world. However, they can take over human bodies and use their strength for their own needs! Yes, after all these years of being weak, slimes now get the chance to be strong and use humans for a change!

The Tactical Tactician!

The core gameplay on offer here in Great Ambition of the SLIMES is that of a tactics simulation style of game. Each game has us moving our slimes around the board to take control of different humans. We then have to engage in combat with humans and even harder to defeat demons. It is the kind of game that on paper does not sound all that deep, but there is actually a lot of strategy and it is the kind of game that once it gets its hooks into you will really be quite addictive and fun, but like most other tactics style games, there will be a bit of a learning curve here.

Different Slimes, Different Times!

One of the coolest things about the Great Ambition of the SLIMES is the variety of slimes that we have at our disposal. There are over 20 different slimes that you can make use of and while you will be taking over humans, each one has their own special thing such as one being able to multiply itself or even teleport to a different part of the map or melt something from an enemy. Using the right slime at the right time is going to be a huge part of the fun of this game.

Slimes, They Always Look Cute!

The whole style of Great Ambition of the SLIMES is something that I love and I am pretty sure I had a smile on my face the whole time that I was playing the demo of Great Ambition of the SLIMES. This is all done with pixel art, but these are some of the most expressive pixel art slimes that you will ever see. The game just oozes charm and personality and I love how bright some of the stages are. The character designs of the human characters and the demons are a lot of fun too. The thing about the visuals is that I kind of want to say that they look 16-bit, but I actually get more of a Game Boy Color vibe from this game than I do a Super Nintendo one.

Pros:

• If you like slimes, you will like this
• As a tactics game, the gameplay is deep and engaging
• I liked how there were different slimes with different abilities
• The whole 8-bit retro style of the game is something that really clicked with me

Cons:

• The game may take a while to get into for some people
• I did find some of the trickier enemies to be a bit frustrating to deal with, but that could have been me being a moron!
