Story

Injustice 2 acts as a direct sequel to Injustice: Gods Among Us, continuing the story set in motion in the first game. After Superman's fall from grace, Batman and his cohorts try to restore peace and order around the globe. Unfortunately, a new threat arrives in the form of The Society, a group of super villains led by the cosmic foe, Brainiac. With the fate of humanity in the balance, Batman and his crew must take down The Society, which might require working with the now-evil Superman. The story in Injustice 2 is an achievement in fighting games, only rivaled by past NetherRealm games like Mortal Kombat X. The narrative is played out from the perspective of several characters, with the player controlling a different character in every chapter. There are twelve chapters totaling over 70 different story-based fighters, providing tons of screen time for all of your favorite characters. As both an original story and a crossover tale, Injustice 2 succeeds.

Gameplay

There are a wide variety of gameplay modes to choose from, ranging from single-player challenges to multiplayer arenas. The fighting mechanics are mostly unchanged from Injustice: Gods Among Us, with the exception of new moves, dodging and blocking mechanics, and an extensive upgrade system. In addition to the story mode, players can dive into standard exhibition fights, the ever-evolving Multiverse challenge mode, as well as practice and tutorial modes. The Multiverse mode is the most unique, offering a list of fighting challenges that change on daily and hourly timers.

The biggest addition in Injustice 2 is the Gear System, which allows you to customize each character's armor, weapons, and abilities. There are 28 unique fighters, each with their own experience level to be raised. As you participate in fights with each character, you'll unlock various pieces of gear with different stats, as well as bonus moves and color schemes. While your extra moves won't be available in most online multiplayer modes, this does provide a cool way to stand out from the competition.
