Jak And Daxter The Lost Frontier

Calling all 3D platformer fans! Are you looking for a new and exciting platforming experience with a retro feel to it? Because if so, then Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier is the game for you. Though the game was released all the way back in 2009, it still holds up today with its brilliant action-packed gameplay and story. If you're keen to know more, be sure to stick around, as I'm going to talk a bit more about the game's features to give you an idea of what you'll be getting yourself into when you download the game for yourself.

The story

As with all the games in the Jak and Daxter series, The Lost Frontier has a story revolving around the two titular heroes, but this time they’re joined by Keira, Jak’s love interest. The trio are on a quest to figure out why their world’s energy supply is running low, and they get into a whole lot of unforeseen trouble on their search for answers. There may or may not be space pirates involved…

If you love action-packed stories that get more exciting by the minute, then strap in, because that’s exactly what you can expect from this game.

Combat and eco powers

The combat in Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier is very similar to what you see in other games in the series. A lot of the core moves are the same such as the gliding punch and round spin kick, but there are a few cool new features too. Eco powers are things you’ll unlock throughout the game and will give you the ability to perform all kinds of new and exciting attacks that will prove incredibly useful in the various boss fights you’ll come across. You’ll even get special weapon mods that’ll turn your base gunstaff into an unstoppable weapon of destruction.

Planes

Travelling to different areas in Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier is achieved by using planes, which is very different to the standard platforming gameplay. While in a plane, you’ll see a whole different interface compared to normal and will be able to move around and shoot targets as required. Aerial combat is a big thing in this game, too, so expect to come across a bunch of enemies that you’ll need to fight while in your plane.

Pros:

• Lots of gameplay variety with platforming and plane flying
• A bunch of weapon upgrades and abilities are unlocked throughout the game
• The story is really fun and engaging

Cons:

• The platforming is a bit repetitive and can get boring over time
• The camera isn’t the best
