Among the game series, there are those that will be remembered forever. One of them is a franchise about mafia clans fighting in different time periods. These three stunning projects, which for a long time capture the attention of cinematography and interesting plot. And Mafia 3: Definitive Edition was the perfect finale of the series. So what is this game and why should we pay attention to it?

Plunge into the world of crime

Mafia 3: Definitive Edition is the updated and reworked edition of the third part of the cult franchise. American studio Hangar 13 was mostly responsible for the development, while 2K Czech employees who were responsible for the previous games of the series acted as the consultants. Publisher 2K was in charge of project promotion and distribution.

Mafia 3: Definitive Edition is a genre mix of third-person action and action-adventure with racing arcade elements. The sequel only partially continues the story that was revealed in Mafia II. It is connected, first of all, with the fact that the events unfold in another time epoch. The developers did something similar with the sequel, that is also only indirectly related to the original game.

When revenge becomes the main reason to live

The action in Mafia 3: Definitive Edition takes you to the beginning of the seventies, in the town called New Bordeaux, the prototype of which is New Orleans. A kid named Lincoln J. Clay, returned from the Vietnam War, decides to start a new life. He's going to go to California and get a job in a shipyard. But first the war veteran, who has received several awards for valor and courage, decides to visit his adopted father and brother.

After meeting his loved ones, Lincoln finds himself embroiled in a crime spree. His father and brother die, as do several other good friends. By some miracle the boy himself manages to survive. The Italian mafia headed by the influential Sal Marcano is behind the murders. Clay was once even friends with his son. Now the former soldier is determined to destroy the crime syndicate responsible for the deaths of his family. To do so, he enlists the support of fellow soldier John Donovan.

Advantages and disadvantages

The game, remotely reminiscent of GTA V, is captivating in many ways. Among its undeniable pluses are:

• A huge open world available for exploration
• An exciting story with three major endings
• A large number of features and gameplay mechanics
• Memorable soundtrack

In addition, Mafia 3: Definitive Edition, unlike the regular version, includes three major story additions:

• Faster, Baby! – tells the story of a race and a showdown with a corrupt sheriff
• Sign of the Times – a story about a series of mysterious ritual murders
• Stones Unturned – missions about friendship and vendetta that began in Vietnam

Of the disadvantages of the project most often recall the monotonous and uneventful gameplay. Although when immersed in the story repetition of actions over several missions becomes not so noticeable.
