An interesting blend of farming sim and some good old-fashioned anime lewdness, Mirror 2: Project z tasks the player with taking care of an island and its cute residents — while some mature (but not too raunchy) situations unfold. This is the perfect sim for anime fans looking for an idyllic island getaway without leaving the comfort of the computer screens.
Featuring some truly astonishing visuals — for the environments, at least — Mirror 2: Project Z is much more than just your average lewd game. Its unique blend of casual gameplay and rewarding simulation mechanics are also sure to hit the mark with fans of farming simulators who don’t mind seeing their games with more of a mature edge.
A True Paradise
The core concept of Mirror 2: Project Z is quite interesting indeed: instead of presenting the player with a fully realized world with a clear set of objectives and a predetermined narrative path, this game is all about modularity and freedom of choice.
Much of the game allows players to choose their own approach to gameplay. Collecting things, however, takes precedence over anything else. From fishes to shiny gems, Mirror 2: Project Z has more in common with the collectathons of the N64 era than it does with other farming simulators like Stardew Valley or Rune Factory 5.
Cute Protagonists
Let’s address the elephant in the room: yes, Mirror 2: Project Z is a lewd game through and through. However, not everything is about perversion in this massive playground of casual gameplay.
First off, the game is rated for ages 16 and up, so forget about any explicit content like what you might find in other, seedier games. That’s not to say that there isn’t any content to gawk at for a certain population of anime fans — quite the opposite, actually.
After a harsh day collecting everything there’s to collect in your idyllic island, players can spend the rest of the night organizing their army of anime girls. With the inclusion of a robust modding community, there’s a nearly endless well of creativity to find when it comes to clothing and accessories you can get for your girls.
Visual Marvel
At first glance, it’s easy to see that Genshin Impact was a massive inspiration for the look of Mirror 2: Project Z. This goes beyond the mere cel-shaded look of the entire game: it seeps into many of the game’s streamlined gameplay decisions and even some of the animations.
The aspect of collecting characters might also be a nod towards some of the popular anime gacha games dominating the mobile market at the moment. Still, some of the best parts about these game’s visuals are wholly unique, like how the environments really make you feel like you’re enjoying the tropical vacation of a lifetime.
Mirror 2: Project Z is an addictive — and overwhelmingly free — casual game that will appeal to anime fans more than any other demographic.
