Ocean World: Eden Crafters

Ocean World: Eden Crafters is a free prologue to a much bigger game that will be coming out soon. The game centers around crafting and survival on a hostile planet, with the goal of transforming it into a habitable planet more like Earth. With the right tools, players can turn radiative lakes into pure water, deserts into forest, and so much more.

The prologue centers around one specific planet, Ocean World, which presents a novel challenge to players—there’s a little too much water present. That in combination with a large moon means huge waves they may make it difficult to thrive. What happens next is up to you. You’ll have to overcome these challenges to transform the planet.

Decent Graphics

Graphics are a wild card in the space and exploration genre. Some games, like Avorion, have relatively poor graphics and get by on the sheer abundance of planets and things to do for gameplay value. Other games, like Star Citizen, have fantastic graphics that really catch the eye. Ocean World: Eden Crafters has better developed graphics than most, with beautiful water animations and cut scenes. Vehicles and other objects still appear relatively simple, but these simpler designs are still decent enough.

Well Developed Tutorial

Ocean World: Eden Crafters does a good job of supporting players in the beginning, so they can get a good idea of how the game works before getting deep into gameplay. Players receive a multi-tool at the beginning of this tutorial that will help them do the bulk of the work needed on the planet before it is a living, breathing planet. The area you are started in is rich with mineral nodes, but you’ll have to travel up into the mountains and explore a little to get some of the more uncommon minerals.

Craft Your Heart Out

For many people, crafting is a relaxing way to spend time. It’s also hard to find a game where crafting is the major focus. Ocean World: Eden Crafters requires almost everything you build to be crafted from resources available on the planet.

Prepare to spend a lot of time in your residential unit, crafting away at your bench from the safety of an oxygen rich environment. Oxygen canisters are available to let you explore farther from your buildings, but these have to be used manually at this time. They will not automatically be used even if your character is about to die from lack of oxygen.

Unique Feature

One unique feature this game has that very few other survival/crafting games do is the ability to dig into the ground, as well as more automation than similar games such as Planet Crafter. These features make the game a little more enjoyable compared to similar games in the genre.
