Open Roads

Open Roads is a mystery adventure style of game and it is a game that I really could not be any more excited for. While it has gone kind of quiet on when this game is going to be fully released. I thought we could have a look at why this is looking like it could be one of the most amazing adventure games released in 2022. What really drew my attention to this game was the pedigree it has. From the development studio, the publisher, and even the voice talent they have! This game is stacked with very talented people behind it and that is why I am so excited for it.

Digging Into The Past

The story of the game is about a 16 year old girl called Tess Devine. She along with her mother, Opal are in the attic and they come across an old box full of notes, papers and so on that are full of potential family secrets!

From crimes to long lost family treasure. It all sounds very interesting that is what starts your journey in Open Roads off. The two of them decide to visit various family properties to try and find out just what these old mysteries are…. And they are darker than they ever imagined. The whole story is brought to life with incredible artwork that looks like a comic book. Plus, the voice acting from Keri Russell and Kaitlyn Dever is incredible.

Ok, Mom!

The mother and daughter dynamic in this game is one of the most interesting parts about it. The studio behind this game knows what they are doing when it comes to a narrative driven adventure and Open Roads is no different. Tess and Opal do not exactly have the best relationship and this game is wearing that on its sleeve. They will find out more about each other and how each other feels. I have to say to me personally, that is more the driving force than the dark mystery surrounding what they found in the attic!

Road Trip!

While you will be visiting different places and exploring them. Open Roads also has you and your mother on a road trip and this is where the relationship between Tess and Opal will really come to the forefront of the game. You can mess around with the radio, check the map, talk to each other, and so on.

Talking is a huge part of this game and the dialogue system they have here is going to keep you on your toes and very invested in what is going on. The people who made this game knew exactly what they were doing.

Pros:

• It features two flawed, but very well written characters
• The whole mystery aspect of the game will keep you guessing until the end
• The voice acting here is incredible
• I love the way the visuals capture the fact the game is set during the fall

Cons:

• We still have no confirmation as to when this game will be finished
• I am not sure how much replay value there will be once you have completed the story
