Pokemon is no longer just an addictive Game Boy game. It's also an addictive card game (released by Wizards of the Coast in the U.S.). In Japan, the card game has become very popular on its own. So Nintendo took that card game and made it back into a Game Boy title. That game is Pokemon Card GB.
The rules of this are set up much like a game of Magic: The Gathering (one of the most popular trading card games in the U.S.). You are striving to become one of the Pokemon Card Masters by defeating challengers from Pokemon Clubs set up throughout the overworld map. As you visit each Pokemon Club, you'll be able to buy items, learn new skills, link up and challenge a friend, or challenge the club members to battles. Characters from the original Pokemon game are gone, although the Pokemon that you use (all 150) are there in card form. There are also familiar sights: the link club, PCs to store your Pokemon Card decks, etc.
Battles are similar to regular Pokemon matches, except this time they're enhanced through new, different cards and power-ups. The strategy involved is easy to learn (luckily your first battle is a tutorial) yet challenging to master.
