PuPu's Adventure Park

After the first time I played the demo of PuPu’s Adventure Park, I put the game straight on my wish list. Theme park building sims are a genre of game that I am always willing to give a try. However, this one here is extra special as it has an awesome “fantasy” twist to it and a whole lot of charm with a fun and interesting story woven around the theme park building sim style gameplay. As I write this, the game is not yet 100 percent complete, but I have spent enough time with it that I am comfortable sharing my thoughts.

A Dark Lease From The Dark Goblins!

The story of PuPu’s Adventure Park is something that took me by surprise as making money and making your park guests happy is really the extent of most theme park games “story” but that is not the case here. It takes place on a fantasy world that was overtaken by the Dark Goblins who now rule all the other races. The poor PuPu’s have it really rough and they have had to lease an adventure park from the Dark Goblins and they need to keep it running, but they are also working to revive their once great race!

A Park Built For Adventurers!

The way that PuPu’s Adventure Park works is that the Dark Goblins have this power that allows them to summon heroes from far and wide to come and “sweat” by taking part in all the different adventure activities. Sweat by the way is pretty much the currency of this game! You start with fairly modest means as you build the basics to attract some heroes to come to your park. You can unlock more and more attractions and stuff to build your park with and even entertain some very special guests! Trying to keep everyone happy so that more and more people will want to come to your park is basically what your goal is here.

Not So Sure About The Breeding

As you are running things in PuPu’s Adventure Park, you have a lot to keep an eye on, but there is so much that you cannot do it alone. This means that you have to breed new PuPu’s in order to have enough staff to keep the park running and doing all the things that you are simply too busy…. Or important to be doing! The whole breeding thing is kind of weird and is like this strange machine! Hey, I love the people management aspect of the game and think that it adds another layer of depth to things, but they could have worded it a bit differently than “breeding”.

A Charming, But Deadly Adventure Park!

I watched a trailer for PuPu’s Adventure Park before I decided to give it ago and I was in awe at how charming it all was. It had a kind of storybook vibe to it and I thought that was really neat. The presentation of the game is fantastic! I love the whole style here and I love the use of color, it is not super vibrant, but has a kind of washed out look to things that I really think is easy on the eyes and very appealing. The different adventurers that come to your park have a ton of personality and you can even get a bit more story through them.

Pros:

• I love the whole charm of the game
• It has a fun story to go with the park building gameplay
• Building your adventure park is fun
• The gameplay is deep, but not at the expense of it being a good time

Cons:

• I hope that this also makes its way onto consoles
• This is the kind of game that could do with being supported with new content quite regularly
