First-person shooters these days fall into two categories: CoD-style with high Time-to-Kill and CS-style with lower TTK but with more emphasis on tactics and objectives. If you’ve been craving some of the classic FPS action that games like Quake and Unreal used to have, then you should check out Ratz Instagib. This game places a heavier emphasis on fast-paced action with one-hit kills and plenty of mobility. With tons of modes and maps to choose from and plenty of options for creativity, Ratz Instagib is more fun than shooting noobs in a barrel.
Lock and load as we talk about everything you need to know about Ratz Instagib.
Classic FPS Action
Forget the campers, the UAVs and the imbalance weapons. Ratz Instagib is pure FPS gaming the way it was meant to be. It focuses on pure aiming and snap decision-making skills where no one has any real advantage because of the size of their wallet.
Your rat’s weapon is reminiscent of the classic Unreal railgun, firing at long range and annihilating its target instantly. Movement is fast and furious like the good ol’ days with lots of jumping and bunny hopping thrown for good measure.
As we said above, Ratz Instagib has no pay-2-win nonsense. Of course, that doesn’t mean you can’t do some rat fashion. By playing the game, you can collect cosmetic items that can add some flair and fun to your rodent avatar. You can decorate your rat in all sorts of cool and whacky ways, including a banana item and space armor similar to Doomguy’s. Don’t need some of your items? The game has its own marketplace where you can sell or trade your unwanted bling.
Robust Map Editor
Ratz Instagib has tons of maps that you can play across its 6 adrenaline-fueled modes. If that’s not enough, then you can put together your own map in the game’s robust map editor.
As rats tend to invade homes, you can choose to model your own arena after your bedroom or any other place you want. Ratz Instagib also supports Steam Workshop which allows you to post your creation and download maps made by other players.
Classic FPS action has always been a staple in the gaming space. It’s refreshing to see a game take a no-holds-barred approach at recreating that skill-based no-nonsense gameplay that used to dominate the LAN parties of yore. If you love FPS games and miss the good ol’ days of playing Quake and Unreal, then Ratz Instagib is worth checking out.
