As a fan of horror, Suite 776 is a game that had been on my radar for a while. I eventually pulled the trigger and I have spent the last few days being scared to death playing the game. This is an indie title that was made by just one developer over the course of a few years and I must say right of the bat it is very impressive what this person was able to achieve on their own.
Ring The Bell If You Dare!
What really grabbed me about this game was the story and the premise in general. There was this famous architect called Marcy and Suite 776 was the last creation that she did before she killed herself. You play as someone trying to prove that the rumors about this place being haunted by Marcy are true and you do this by setting out with your camera to capture this proof. When I was playing the game, I was reminded many times about a Stephen King movie and story called 1408, that was the kind of feeling I got while playing this.
Nice, Clean And Silent
I was very impressed with the way that the game looked. Considering this is made by just one person. The whole game has a very clean and smooth look to it. The actual Suite 776 is a really strange and odd location and trying to figure it out is a huge part of the mystery. One thing that really ramped up the tension as I played was the soundtrack or lack of one. There is no music at all in this game and you may think that sounds odd, but this is by design. You only hear a few environmental sound effects and this makes things extra tense. Especially when you can hear Marcy lurking around the place.
So, Will You Ring The Bell?
The whole game has you exploring this very strange, maze-like place. As you go, puzzles will need to be solved and notes can be picked up all of which help flesh things out and also scare the heck out of you! The game is a first-person game and you are never sure what is going to scare you next. Being constantly taunted to ring the bell may not sound like much, but as you play it gets more and more in your head and freaks you out. This is a very short game with a playthrough lasting around an hour at the most. You cannot save your game and each session needs to be played to completion. There are many hidden things and the game does have three different endings so there is replay value here.
I had a great time with this game. I love a good horror game and Suite 776 is most certainly a good horror game. I really enjoyed the lore behind the game and found it to be a legit creepy and scary experience. If you enjoy horror games then this one here is very easy for me to recommend to you.
