The Expanse: A Telltale Series

Ok, so from what little we have seen talking about The Expanse: A Telltale Series as I write this is going to be tricky. However, this is something that I am very, very excited about. I love the show and the team behind the game are responsible for one of my favorite video games of 2021. So, while the details on what this game is going to offer are not exactly all that deep as of writing. I still want to take a closer look at what we do know about this game so we can all get a bit more excited about it.

What Will You Do With The Truth?

Even though I am a huge fan of the show, I must admit that I am still a little unsure of where exactly in the timeline The Expanse: A Telltale Series is set. We know that Camina Drummer is the main character in the game so it has to be set at some point after the second season of the TV show. Taking place in outer space onboard The Artemis. A “bloody mutiny” has broken loose as people are fighting for power and to be in charge. We need to find out what is really going on here and make sure that our people are safe. Plot details are really thin on the ground, but the teaser trailer we saw made me think that this will surely capture the spirit of the TV show very well.

Looking At Your True Colors

A huge reason as to why I am so excited about The Expanse: A Telltale Series is the team behind it. Even with the financial troubles that they had over the last few years, Telltale are still one of the best when it comes to narrative driven games. Handling the heavy lifting of this game are Deck Nine who made the excellent Life is Strange: True Colors. That game had far more “gameplay” than the other Life is Strange games so I am sure they will bring that here to this game. I think it will lead to a much more dynamic kind of story driven game and one thing that we do know for sure is that there will be zero gravity sections in the game which are sure to be fun!

That Telltale Shine!

As of me writing this The Expanse: A Telltale Series preview, we have actually seen very little of the game. We got that one teaser trailer and that is all we really have to go on. However, we did see Camina and also The Artemis as well and they do look very faithful to the show. They have even managed to get much of the cast from the show to reprise their roles here such as Cara Gee as Camina. The game certainly has that look of a Telltale style of game and that is something I mean in a very complimentary way. With how much respect they treated franchises like Batman, The Walking Dead, and Jurassic Park I am sure that this is in good hands as far as the presentation goes.

Pros:

• I like the direction they appear to be going with this
• They have managed to get the cast for the show to be in the game
• Camina is the main character and that is awesome
• Deck Nine made the excellent, Life is Strange: True Colors

Cons:

• We still know next to nothing about the game
• You will need to be familiar with the show to really appreciate this
