Transformers: Prime – The Game

The announcement of Transformers: Prime the Game set a very worrying precedent. What is the franchise going to do with a game that may annoy a fan base of a beloved franchise? Let's face it, good Transformers games have been very few and far between. We're going into the idea that this one will not be much different on the quality scale.

But then again, perhaps Transformers: Prime the Game could surprise us and makes some amends? The show the game is based on is pretty good and serves up the potential to make a decent game. Then again, we see this time and time again that a game spawning from great lore turns out to be remarkably average at best. But let's give Transformers: Prime the Game a go anyway.

Rolling Out Once Again

The narrative may come as no surprise, basically because every Transformers media uses the same storyline. Optimus Prime and his Autobots are battling against Megatron and his Decepticons for whatever reason. That's just how it goes, apparently. It's safe to say that Transformers: Prime the Game won't inspire you in terms of story, but what's a bit of a wake-up call is that the gameplay is actually decent.

It's easy for a brawler game to be a bit lackluster, but what's surprising is that Transformers: Prime the Game actually introduces a fair bit of variety in its missions. You'll find that overtimes, you'll undertake a range of objectives, including combat, escape, exploration, and other little things that spice up the overall gameplay. Even though the narrative isn't brilliant, it doesn't really need to be - the game is fun!

You'll play as different characters across both factions, where no two feel the same. Each has its own game personality and control mechanism, offering different ways to defeat your foes. You can use lasers, fists, or more significantly - you can even descend into vehicle mode for more creative ways to accomplish your objectives.

The variety and diversity in the game are an eye-opener into what Transformers games can be should there be some effort. Transformers: Prime the Game may not be the most stunning brawler, but you can't write it off. It's a good game, and really the fun doesn't stop until its end. This little number was a surprise, considering most games based on TV series are questionable.

Machines That Work

Suppose you put Transformers: Prime the Game up against other similar media-based titles like Thor: God of Thunder. In that case, it's miles ahead in terms of quality. Perhaps the biggest shock is that the expectations going into this game were low. Somehow the franchise decided they needed a decent match to pair with the TV series and made it happen.

Transformers: Prime the Game is by no means the best brawler out there, but it's good enough to make you actually want to play it and finish it, for that matter. The narrative isn't exciting, but players will get a thrill from controlling the characters they've come to know and love in more engaging fashions. It's worth the drive!

Round-Up - Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Great variety of gameplay
  • The combat is generally engaging
  • Play as a host of characters with different gameplay styles

Cons:

  • The narrative follows a similar story to others in the franchise
  • Rewards are a bit uninspired

Game Reviews

The world of robots that can transform into cars has always fascinated not only children but also adults, so act as mechanical defenders of the population in the adventure action movie - Transformers: Prime - The Game.

Asteroid with a surprise

The Decepticons discovered a large accumulation of dark energon in an asteroid that was dangerously close to Earth's orbit. Nemesis immediately set out to capture the valuable resource, so the Autobots were forced to immediately set out to intercept the asteroid. Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Bulkhead, and Arcee destroy the asteroid, but fall to Earth's surface, along with dark energon meteorites. Megatron orders his minions to retrieve parts of the asteroid and finish off the Autobots if they manage to survive the fall.

Lots of robots, lots of fun

The story mode leaves the player with Optimus Prime's team, battles over falling meteorites, and the safety of the inhabitants of planet Earth. However, in addition to the story mode, there is co-op, which offers several modes to choose from:

  • Brawl - the fight continues until the last surviving robot. As soon as the participants of the battle lose all health points - they automatically drop out of the battle. If time expires before the last remaining player is found, the health of all participants drops to a minimum value, and transformation into transport becomes unavailable.
  • Energon Match - another slaughter, only now, if the participant loses all health points, he does not drop out of the game, but loses 5 points. For each victory is given 10 points. The player with the maximum number of points wins.
  • Emblem Battle - a time trial. Players fight for the Emblem. Once the player has received the Emblem he begins to get points. Transformation into transport becomes impossible, and other players will try by all means to get the emblem for themselves. The player with the most points wins.

The environment is also the enemy

In addition to the players themselves in multiplayer mode can interfere even maps. For example, the map with the volcano has a lazarus that damages everyone who touches it, and the energy mine sucks the energy of anyone who decides to touch its toxic waterfalls. The cards pose as much danger as the enemies themselves, so you have to be careful not to fall under the deleterious influence of nature's traps.

Go on a mission with the robot heroes and save the Autobots and humans from the invasion of two enemies at once. Play as your favorite heroes and disperse even enemy ships in a vehicle that can drive itself. Use all methods to defeat both humans in co-op and Decepticons in story mode.
