In the months leading up to DAEMON X MACHINA being released, I was so excited. It had felt like forever since I had played a classic style mech game and this game was bringing just that! I loved these types of games back in the day and during the PlayStation 2 and original Xbox years. Mech games like this seemed to be something that was popular and released quite often. Well, I am happy to say that this game did not disappoint and it was so good, I ended up getting it on both PC and the Nintendo Switch!

Arsenal vs Immortals!

The story for DAEMON X MACHINA is kind of all over the place, but to be honest with you that is exactly what I want in a game like this. We play as a pilot of a badass mech, which in this universe is known as an Arsenal. The world is in danger from these rogue Ais known as Immortals.

You and other “mercenaries” are hired to fight them and try and save the day, but as you and the others are mercenaries, can you really trust the people you are fighting with?

This Is Your Mech!

Before I get to the gameplay of DAEMON X MACHINA, I have to talk about the insane level of customization that this game allows you. I have played a lot of mech games, but none that come to mind allow you to tinker with things like this one does. I am not just talking about the paint either. The loadouts, the abilities, perks, and whatever else you want to call them can all be changed here. Something you change may make you quicker at moving, but sluggish in the air! You can have six weapons on you and use four of them at any one time. I would bet that you will spend as much time playing with your mech as you will taking part in the missions.

Speaking Of Missions

In DAEMON X MACHINA most of what you do in the first part of the game is what you will be repeating for the majority of it. You have a series of missions to do and most of these missions are all about, destroy that or stopping that from being destroyed. At the end of the day, it is a game about giant mechs so what more can you expect. Despite being a massive mech, the gameplay is very fast-paced. It is crazy how many different types of attack you can do at once and I found there to be a decent variety of low level enemies and tougher bosses and rival mechs for you to fight.

Armored To The Core!

The visual presentation of this game is amazing. It has a kind of cell shaded vibe to the visuals and it is something that I really do like. The game looks like some kind of anime and the use of lighting just makes you marvel at your mech.

There is always something going on and it is like your eyes and ears are being bombarded with badass imagery and sound the whole time you are playing the game!

I had a great time playing through DAEMON X MACHINA on my PC. So much so that when I heard it was on the Nintendo Switch, I bought it there too so I could play it on the go. This is one of the best mech style games to come out in years. I had so much fun with this and even now, I can fire it up, do a few missions and tinker with my mech and have a great time. I highly recommend that you check this one out as it is an absolute blast to play!

Pros:

I love the cell shaded style of graphics
The game is just so much fun to play
You have many different ways that you can customize your mech
The story is weird, nuts, makes no sense, but I loved it

Cons:

Many of the missions do feel a bit similar to each other
You will probably spend as much time tinkering with your mech as fighting with it, but to me, this could be classed as a pro!
