The Leviathan's Fantasy

Welcome, one and all, to The Leviathans Fantasy. This is a simulation game where you control the populace of your small town and direct them into creating an incredible city with imports, exports and a huge roster of adventurers on your side. Have you ever visited a city in an adventure game and thought “This whole city is managed poorly and could be much more successful if things were done right?” Well, now you don’t have to dream, as you take control and make all the decisions necessary to create a utopia that ensures everyone has what they need. Let’s look a bit further into it.

Gameplay

So, if you are looking for a game that blends things like Final Fantasy Tactics with Age of Empires, then you have come to the right place. This title really goes all in on offering you a complete and comprehensive experience when creating your perfect floating island city. It’s got a similar spirit to Cities: Skylines, but not quite down to the same incredible detail. You will need to spend a significant amount of time arranging for the city’s collection of materials and then placing where you want each of the buildings to go. There is something strangely satisfying about having a city managements sim that focuses on a fantasy world, because I don’t think it’s been done before quite as well as this.

As you would expect, much of the city’s infrastructure runs on a kind of gig economy that is largely populated with adventurers. You will need to make you city an attractive place to be so you can bring in all the newest party members and have them work for you. Once you start gathering them, send them out on missions and have them bring in important materials and items from their hunts and jobs. And, just like that, you have a booming economy to support your growing city.

Since your city is built on the back of the Leviathan, a large flying creature, you will also have to determine where the creature goes and what journey it takes, passing by other locations on regular stop offs to keep your business booming.

Visuals

The visuals in this title are fantastic. As I said in the paragraphs above, there is something intensely awe inspiring about having this all set up in a fantasy world. The fantastical environments, the creatures, the architecture, they are all different in a way that we would never get to see in the real world. It scratches a very specific itch that I, and many other gamers, have in regards to exploring and inhabiting amazing parallel worlds.

Music

A huge part of this game is its music. You will be spending a significant amount of time just exploring the world, building houses, and more, and you have a fantastic original sound track to accompany you while you do. All the music here is wonderful and is used perfectly to set each scene you encounter with incredible precision and tone.
