Tiny Bunny

When it comes to horror games, we’re used to seeing the occasional FPS survival horror adventure that becomes the flavor of the month, only to never be talked about again. Tiny Bunny addresses those issues with the modern horror genre, delivering a shocking visual novel with a gripping narrative that will slowly shock you to your core.

An astonishing visual presentation and spectacular narrative are just the cherries on top of what a solid horror game Tiny Bunny is. This is a title that knows how to balance drama and scares in the right amount, which only helps to make the whole experience feel even eerier as a result.

Black and White Nightmares

The story of Tiny Bunny takes place in a small village that’s surrounded by a dense forest. Rumors of creatures lurking in the woods and dozens of missing children are enough for the villagers to steer clear from the forest – until some of them hear the call.

You play as Anton: a young boy that has recently moved into the village with his family. Though the children who disappear in this town are never found by the search parties formed by the neighbors, Anton seems fairly capable of finding leads that help him find those who were taken by the forest.

The game is played like most visual novels, with the slight difference being that players can actually alter the narrative by making different choices in the game. Unlike the Telltale game series, like The Walking Dead, choices can alter the outcome of the story dramatically in Tiny Bunny.

For such a text-heavy game, it's a bit disappointing to see that there are some translation errors during some gameplay segments. Fortunately, they’re usually just typos that don’t affect the overall impact of the plot.

Tiny Bunny is presented entirely in black and white drawings. The art looks amazing, and every character’s expressions are full of life, which only makes some scenes even more disturbing.

Explore the Forest

Like many other slav horror games – like the spectacular Kholat –, Tiny Bunny has a unique sense of atmosphere and overall spookiness to it that’s very hard to match. The fact that the mystery surrounding the woods is so well developed is another plus, as the game takes its time reveling in the oppressive atmosphere before it delivers any shocking scares.

Although some of the characters can be a bit rough around the edges, the story is presented in such a way that makes you want to solve every gruesome mystery that’s being slowly revealed to you.

The developers have chosen to release Tiny Bunny in an episodic format. The latest release was episode 3, and the game is expected to have 5 episodes in total. This adheres to the Telltale formula of five episodes per season, but unlike something like Batman: The Telltale Series, Tiny Bunny's narrative is so well crafted that a single episode can feel like a small season worth of content.

If you’re looking for a unique horror game that has a solid narrative and an outstanding atmosphere, then definitely give Tiny Bunny a chance.
