Anger Foot

Anger Foot is a relentless, high-octane first-person shooter that puts your feet front and center in a chaotic urban battleground. Developer Free Lives is back at it with the neon-drenched underbelly of Shit City (that’s the real name, BTW) where your kicks are your deadliest weapon. Engage your ears with a pounding soundtrack and your eyes with eye-catching, near-hallucinogenic visuals in a new kind of gaming goodness that's meant to be both queer and addictive.

That's what makes this name so special, although Anger Foot touts itself as pure, unapologetic mayhem with no filter attached to it. The really good simple premise of using your feet in the most unbelievable way to kick down doors and wreck enemies while leaving a trail of destruction behind serves really well.

This core mechanic matched up with tight level design, a varied selection of unlockable footwear, and an irreverent sense of humor are what instantly make Anger Foot feel like a refreshing take on the fast-paced shooter genre. It's a game that doesn't take itself too seriously, inviting players to revel in its over-the-top violence and absurdist charm.

Symphony of Destruction

Anger Foot is really at its heart a game of momentum. Much like Midnight Fight Express, it's all about combat flow, but taken up to eleven. You'll chain kicks, gunshots, and environmental hazards in a brutal dance of complexity, because that's just the way it is. It's really hard to keep the pace down, and, let's say, within each level, the game becomes something of a playground for creative carnage.

What's going to keep you on your toes is the variety of enemies and the increasing complexity of the level layouts that, at every turn, will evolve your strategy. One moment you're drop-kicking a bunch of unsuspecting goons, the next you're using that same move to send a well-timed door kick to send an explosive barrel hurtling toward a boss.

Sensory Overload

The game visually is a real trip. While the low-poly aesthetic hearkens back to early 3D shooters, its use of vibrant colors really brings it to life alongside its surreal, highly-detailed character designs. Every environment, whether grimy sewers or neon-lit nightclubs, just pops. The anthropomorphization of the enemies brings another layer of bizarreness to the whole thing, as if every encounter was a fever dream brought to life.

Of course, it's made all the better by the soundtrack, really coming together as it syncs the pounding, relentless beats up with on-screen action. It's sight and sound in perfect symbiosis, something precious few other games really achieve.

It's something not too distant from the way music aids and abets the time-bending gameplay mechanic of Superhot, although with a rougher, harder-edged urban note that sits surprisingly well with the setting of Anger Foot.

Fancy Footwear

While traveling through Anger Foot, you will be able to unlock a big selection of sneakers with special abilities to further customize your ways of destruction: It supplies depth to the gameplay and encourages experimentation and replayability. One pair could give you increased kicking power, and another might make you able to perform devastating aerial attacks.

These unlockables aren't just for show; they fundamentally change the way you attack each level. Along with the game's speedrunning and score assault orientation, the system gives Anger Foot a good deal of legs. In this way, you'll find yourself revisiting earlier levels with new abilities, discovering new strategies, and shaving seconds off your best times.

Game Reviews

Anger Foot is a first-person action-shooter in toxic colors, where a reptiloid in a bright outfit to rock music runs around with a gun in his hands and kicks in the doors of the club to shoot the partying alien bandits. Maximum dynamic is mind-blowing!

It's crazy...

The gameplay is like this:

  • The mission is done at speed, with a stopwatch at the top of the screen
  • Shoot pistols, Uzis, shotguns or fight with your feet. Weapons can be thrown
  • The location is narrow and painted rave party-style corridors
