Learning isn’t always fun for kids, especially if they’re more into horror than math tests. Baldi’s Basics in Education and Learning will have your kid racing to solve math problems—or else. Although math is a big part of the game, more generally Baldi’s Basics is a 3D puzzler where you must find notebooks lost by your friend. While you are searching, Baldi and his friends will be searching for you. You need to avoid their attention while getting the notebooks, and if you get a quiz, you must get the answers right. If you don’t, Baldi will become even angrier. When Baldi becomes angry, he chases you with a ruler. His friends may also follow you and make their own demands, such as jumping with a jump rope.
Terrible Graphics
While this game may educate your children and keep them entertained, it is not beautiful. Baldi’s Basics has some of the ugliest graphics out there, with clunky characters and terrible colors. While the graphics are hard to look at they are so bad, the style was intentional. The goal of the terrible graphics was to reflect the graphics from educational games in the 90s.
If you’ve ever played creepy bad games like Sonic's Schoolhouse or I.M. Meen, you’ll be fully prepared for Baldi’s Basics in Education and Learning.
Perfectly Chilling Audio
Although the graphics are (intentionally) awful, the audio more than makes up for it. Baldi’s voice is genuinely terrifying, and really motivates the player to hustle as they try to find the notebooks and not get caught.
Kiddy Horror at its finest
While parents may hesitate to let their child play something that is creepy and can even make adults feel uncomfortable, many kids love to be frightened. If you know your kid does not enjoy horror or creepy things, it is best to steer a wide path around this game. If your child loves games like Five Nights at Freddy’s or Hello Neighbor, this game is just fine for them.
Some minor camera issues
One tiny problem with the game is that you can’t look up or down in the game. You also can’t move up or down.
The only option is forward, back, and side to side. This can make it a lot harder to see Baldi or his friends coming and can also make navigating around challenging. While this is part of the old school feel, its one area that really should have been updated.
This is a great game your kids will love and may inspire them to enjoy school just a little bit more. The developers, Basically Games, knew what they were doing when they made this game—right down to the clunky graphics. If your kid really enjoys horror, they’ll love walking the halls of this creepy school as they try to survive collecting those 7 important notebooks for your friend.
