Breathedge

Breathedge is a space survival adventure game that has its tongue well and truly in its cheek! The game spreads itself out over episodes and this format works very well. I had a lot of fun with it and while it did have a few frustrating moments. Most of the time when something happened that annoyed me, something else would happen that would make me smile so it kind of evened itself out over my playthrough.

Space The Final Frontier

As someone who loves his sci-fi, I loved the humor in the story of Breathedge. The idea is that you are just a regular joe who is on this massive spaceship and you are taking your grandfather's ashes to lay them to race. Well, you crash and now you are stranded in outer space with only your wits, survival skills, and the immortal chicken your grandpa left you!

In Space, No One Can Hear You Laugh

One of the things that is great about this game is the sense of humor. It pokes fun at many video game things such as long loading times or boring fetch quests and then it throws them at you. That did give me a bit of a chuckle, but at the same time, I can see why some people found it annoying that Breathedge made fun of things like fetch quests and then makes you do them.

Floater!

The game is played from the first-person point of view. The spaceship has crashed and is all over the place. Lucky for you, you have a spacesuit. You have a cabin which has been unaffected and this is basically your base of operations. You will need to head out into space to pick up items and resources so that you can survive and upgrade your spacesuit. You need to upgrade it enough so that you can make it to the bridge where you can then call for help.

The controls feel decent enough and there always seem to be a ton of resources for you to grab. Your immortal chicken lends a hilarious helping hand at certain points of the game. the crafting in the game is a tad on the slow side, but you do get used to it eventually.

Breathe And Stop!

If you get my reference to 90s rapper Q-Tip we can be friends! Anyway, there is one area of Breathedge that frustrated me and it was not the game making you do things that it makes fun of other games for doing! It is the air! The biggest survival aspect of this game is your oxygen and it depletes way too fast. You always have to head to an area to replenish your oxygen and this always happens at the worst time! You often have to backtrack to get air and then go back the way you were originally going.

Pros:

• The humor in the game is great
• I loved the immortal chicken
• Floating around space is cool
• Some of the ideas here are very clever

Cons:

• It can be hard to know what to do
• You run out of air way too quickly
