In-game, you’ll get a full day-night cycle that also has awesome weather effects like sandstorms to spice up the danger. There’s also a lot to love with scorching desert sunlight, frustrating rain and frosty snow. To add an element of realism, players will be able to tow and rescue competitors out of a jam for some repair points, and hopefully even have the favor returned down the road.

Fun gameplay

As a Rally Racing fan, this game is one that stays true to the experience seen on TV and in-person. As you enjoy the scenery, you’ll be able to try out the ideal setup for tracks with motorcycles, cars, quads, trucks and SSVs. This is truly unique compared to previous titles in the series as you’ll be able to engage in a more authentic simulation of the rally racing experience.

For the more immersive sim-racing fans, Dakar Desert Rally provides support for a wide variety of steering wheels to give you the ideal driving experience. Trying it out with sim-racing, it was quite easy to setup and configure to my specifications. The support for sim racing is comparable to games like F1 2022 and iRacing. There weren’t any hiccups, and I expect this experience to be the same for majority of players.

Interesting learning curve

The level of excitement I got while racing in the brutal terrain was like nothing I’ve ever had from a racing game. Here, there were a lot of things to be wary of as players are extremely brutal in the fight to come out on top. Additionally, being new to the game, learning how to drive on certain tracks was downright frustrating. Still, with mastery of the tracks came a newfound appreciation for the game’s design. It’s not like most arcade racing games where a track can be learned on the first try. Here, you’ll need to learn how to get the timing right in order to succeed.

Verdict

Dakar Rally Racing will be satisfying for players that have always fantasized about the iconic vehicles they’ve admired from a distance. Getting to control these behemoths is satisfying to do. Once you’re used to the kinks of each vehicle, you’ll gain a better grasp of them in comparison to the players encountered online. Sure, there will be accidents as it is unavoidable in this type of racing, but there is always motivation to help out someone. Likewise, there’ll be people willing to help you out.
