Dune Mechanic : Survive The Steampunk Era

I will admit that I was drawn to Dune Mechanic: Survive The Steampunk Era because for like the last year and a bit I have been on a real Dune kick thanks to the recent movie. However, this has nothing to do with that and apart from sand being all over the place I am not sure why it is even in the title. Still, this is a pretty neat survival game that is due out in 2022 at some point and I thought it would be pretty neat to take a closer look at what we know about it so far.

Wrong Place To Crash!

The premise of Dune Mechanic: Survive The Steampunk Era is that we were flying around in our airship when we crashed into a desolate desert! This is a very harsh place and you need to scavenge for supplies if you want to survive. The steampunk era setting is pretty neat, but I am not sure how much actual story is going to be here. There does appear to be a fair bit of character customization which looks pretty cool though which I think does also add some RPG style elements to the gameplay.

From Surviving To Thriving

Dune Mechanic: Survive The Steampunk Era is played from the first-person and the idea of the game is that you need to head out to find items to survive. Items like food related stuff will help you survive, but you also need to find resources that you can use to craft things with too. You can build a small shelter all the way up to a massive factory. A good friend of mine said that it is basically like Minecraft, but with a bit of a steampunk aesthetic and I think his assessment of it is pretty spot on.

A Ten Barrel Shotgun

The more I have read about Dune Mechanic: Survive The Steampunk Era, it is the combat that has appealed to me the most. There will be these robots that will try to invade where you are and steal your resources for their own gain. You can fight them off and the weapon customization in this game seems pretty insane, they say that you could craft a ten barrel shotgun if you want and that to me sounds awesome. I think crafting weapons and playing around to see how well they work is going to be a lot of fun.

Wild, Wild, Punk West

While Dune Mechanic: Survive The Steampunk Era has steampunk in the title, it is not quite as full in with the steampunk thing as many people may want. Still, I do think the overall style of the game is pretty cool, it has a kind of Wild West thing going, and the bits of steampunk related things that are here blend with it pretty well. I do hope that as the game moves along with its development that they make more varieties of robots for us to kill though.

Even though the game is not yet complete, I do think for those that like survival style games, Dune Mechanic: Survive The Steampunk Era is one that is well worth having on your list. I think trying to survive in this interesting land is going to be something that is a great deal of fun. Plus, the crazy weapons that you can craft here looks like it is going to give the combat in the game a rather unique kind of style over other survival games that are on the market right now.
