Avast ye scurvy dogs! It’s time to take to the high seas with this exciting new pirate game. Captain Flint along with his best mate Billy Bones as he strikes out to find treasure in Flint: Treasure of the Oblivion. This tactical RPG requires deep thought from players in order to complete the game. Everything matters in the game, from who is on your team, to what cards you pull during battle. All of the different crew men available have special abilities or unique strengths and weaknesses that need to be taken into account.

Unique blend of Cartoon and 3D graphics

The serious, moody 3D artwork of the open seas is in stark contrast to exciting comic pages that narrate the storyline. Dialogue is livened up with these comics, and so do many of the action scenes. The result is an exciting mix of combat and story that helps propel the game forward.

Historically-Inspired

While the game describes itself as a mixture of pirate and fantasy, there’s plenty of historical elements to the game as well. The manner of speech, clothing and weaponry are all historically accurate for the time period Flint: Treasure of Oblivion is set in. The developer of the game spent a lot of time adding little known details to the game about pirates. As an example, navel battles were avoided among pirates. Instead, the Jolly Rodger was used to frighten merchant vessels into surrendering.

Navel battles are presented in the game, including boarding shown from the sailor’s perspective, but there’s also a lot of land based action and treasure seeking as well. Naval battles like in Pirates of the Caribbean: Tides of War likely won’t occur however, because this is not how a real pirate conducts battles.

Well read players may recognize the names Captain Flint and Billy Bones as well—these are the pirate characters from the classic book, Treasure Island. The developers sought out to show how they came to the situations they were in by the time the book began. Captain Flint for example, went on to become a terrifying pirate legend, where Billy Bones ended up with a black spot on his hand—certain death in the pirate world.

Mature Content

Pirates be warned—this is not a game for children. This goes well beyond the gore and violence, but also the stories themselves. The story of Flint: Treasure of Oblivion is a true pirate tale, told as it might have been during the time. The situations and subjects brought up during gameplay are not appropriate for minors.
