Since 2005 Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios have been releasing a new Forza game every couple of years, alternating between Horizon and Motorsport subtitles. That’s why since the last release in 2018, fans have been patiently waiting for the next entry in the series. But of course, with all the pandemic issues and the situation of the world, games have been falling behind the schedule. However, it is speculated that we’ll get a Forza Horizon 5 finally this 2021.
However, all the details we are going by are pure speculations originated by comments, memes, and gifs, by Jeff Grubb in the Xbox Empire podcast and Twitter. So there is little we really know about the new Forza Horizon 5.
About the game
Forza Horizon has been a widely successful game series, with every release they surprise the players with incredible mechanics and upgrades. And there's also the excellent selection of luxury cars, the amazing soundtrack, the missions and races, and the realistic tracks. These tracks are incredibly well ambient with realistic ambient and incredible looks.
Forza Horizon has been pretty attractive for both fans of racing games and car enthusiasts. With over 450 cars to choose from, all of them are highly detailed and realistic. And you get to drive them throughout incredible tracks, do some sick tricks, and explore the road and become the Horizon Superstar of a worldwide level.
As we mentioned before, all the information about this release is yet to be confirmed by the company. But the commentary by the correspondence and collaborators, and the fan theories have led to two main theories.
- Japanese Setting
For years, fans of the series have expressed their wishes for an entry to have a Japanese setting. In 2020, some leaked images of what would be the Map of Horizon 5, with the names of cities of Japan. However, it was never confirmed the veracity of the map.
In February this year, the images resurfaced, and they were deleted about an hour after they were published, and Microsoft moderators deleted every mention of them from the social media accounts. The whole image and data situation also pointed at a 2021 launch date and has led the users to believe that the game will have a Japanese setting and a launch this year.
- Mexican Setting
In April, Jeff Grubb and Klobrille, insiders of the company, denied the theory of the Japanese setting and pointed at the possibility of the game having a setting in Mexico. Additional to this, Windows Central looked over all the info in their weekly special about rumors, pointing at the latest tweets from the insiders.
However, both of them have talked about the ideas and probabilities, yet they don't dare to yet confirm all this info to the public, saying they don't want to spoil anything. The idea of a Mexican setting in Forza Horizon 5 has been gaining momentum, as this could be huge for the company since the Mexican audience of Horizon is huge.
We don't expect little from a game series that has usually been getting a 10/10 review over the years. Not to mention we are also waiting for a Forza Motorsport 5 this year, and they've had extra time to make all things new into consideration. With the new generation of Xbox here, the technical possibilities are huge.
We expect an official announcement together with Halo Infinite this E3.
- Excellent visual
- Incredible soundtrack
- Great online play
- Wide variety of cars
- Easy gameplay
- Basic controls

Forza Horizon 5 is the latest installment in the popular open-world racing series that takes place in a stunning recreation of Mexico. The game offers a huge variety of cars, events, activities, and customization options for players to enjoy. Whether you want to race on asphalt or dirt, explore ancient ruins or modern cities, or create your own challenges and share them with others, Forza Horizon 5 has something for everyone.
A Diverse and Beautiful World
One of the main attractions of Forza Horizon 5 is its map, which covers over 80 square kilometers of diverse terrain and biomes. You can drive through lush jungles, arid deserts, snowy mountains, tropical beaches, and more. Each area has its own unique landmarks, weather effects, wildlife, and culture. The game also features dynamic seasons that change every week and affect the driving conditions and events available.
The sound design is equally impressive. The cars sound authentic and distinct (especially with headphones), the music is varied and fitting (especially with custom playlists), the voice acting is lively and humorous (especially with some familiar faces from previous games), and the environmental sounds are immersive (especially when you hear birds chirping or thunder rumbling).
A Fun and Rewarding Experience
Another attraction of Forza Horizon 5 is its gameplay loop which keeps you engaged by offering constant rewards for your actions. You can earn credits by winning races or completing challenges which you can use to buy new cars or upgrade existing ones. You can earn influence by performing stunts or exploring new areas which you can use to unlock new events or features. You can earn skill points by driving stylishly or dangerously which you can use to unlock perks that enhance your abilities.
The game also offers plenty of customization options for both your cars and your character. You can change the appearance of your vehicles by applying different paints, vinyls, kits, wheels, and more. You can also tune their performance by adjusting different parameters such as suspension, gearing, aerodynamics, and more. You can change the look of your driver by choosing different outfits, accessories, emotes, and more.
Forza Horizon 5 is arguably one of the best racing games ever made. It combines an amazing world with an addictive gameplay loop that never gets old. It caters to all kinds of players whether they prefer casual fun or hardcore challenge whether they prefer solo play or multiplayer action whether they prefer realism or fantasy.
If there is any flaw in Forza Horizon 5 it might be that it does not innovate much from its predecessors especially Forza Horizon 4 which introduced many of its core features such as seasons shared world Super7 etc… However this does not detract from its quality as it still improves upon them in many ways such as scale variety polish etc…
For comparison another similar game that came out recently was Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered which remade the classic arcade racer from 2010. While it was fun to revisit some nostalgic moments it felt dated compared to Forza Horizon 5 in terms of graphics physics AI content etc… It also lacked many features that Forza Horizon 5 offers such as customization exploration creation etc…
- Diverse and beautiful world that offers endless possibilities for exploration, racing, stunts, etc.
- Fun and rewarding gameplay loop that keeps you engaged by offering constant rewards for your actions.
- Huge variety of cars, events, activities, and customization options for both your vehicles and your character.
- Robust online component that lets you interact with other players in various ways.
- Masterpiece of open-world racing that combines an amazing world with an addictive gameplay loop.
- Not much innovation from its predecessors, especially Forza Horizon 4 which introduced many of its core features.
- Some minor bugs and glitches that can affect the performance or the experience (such as cars disappearing or getting stuck).
- Some events or activities can get repetitive or boring after a while (such as collecting billboards or finding barn finds).
