I will admit that I decide to play Garten of Banban 3 because of all the stuff I was reading about it online. The stuff with the developers getting all this hate and abuse was just insane, all because they made a short game! I was kind of shocked at how short the second game was, but I decided to give this one a try as I am a horror fan and thought that some of the creature designs here were cool in a messed up kind of way.
Fitting A Trend
Like many people, I went into Garten of Banban 3 thinking that I would be getting something similar to a Five Nights at Freddy’s or a Bendy and the Ink Machine type of experience and I have to say that I think that what we have here is kind of close to that. I heard a lot of people say that they felt Poppy was a more appropriate comparison and to be honest, I can see why. I think if you do like those aforementioned games, you may like this, but this does not have anywhere near the polish that those games have in my opinion.
Doing It For The Kids
As far as the story and the lore of Garten of Banban 3 goes, I think that they have something. We play as a parent that is trying to find their child who has gone missing (along with other kids) in this strange kindergarten. This game does follow on from the events of the others and sees us landing in a sub area of the kindergarten where there are all kinds of messed up stuff going down underground. It makes for a very interesting place to explore and I do think that they have something here with the story.
A Little More Substance
Ok, so I came into Garten of Banban 3 after reading all the controversy about the past two games so I perhaps had my guard up going in a bit more. However, I have to say that this is a rather frustrating game to play. I feel that they have something here with the premise, story, and characters, but the first-person exploration gameplay is padded to the max! The way that the game freezes when its exposition is happening feels like it is purely done to make the game last just a bit longer. The only bit of challenge I had was the big boss fight and that was more me figuring out what to do. I liked exploring this place and finding out what was going on, but the execution did spoil it to a degree.
Not Quite Nightmare Fuel!
As far as the presentation of Garten of Banban 3 goes, again, I think that they have something here. This world that they have created and the characters have a very creepy vibe to them and there is something very unsettling about this game in the way that it looks, it is kind of like a nightmare version of Gumby or some Claymation type show. However, I did notice that it seems like they reuse assets a great deal here, and that I am sure is going to be something that angers some people, especially with the way the reaction to the second game was!
Look, I am not going to say that Garten of Banban 3 is the worst game I have ever played because that would simply not be true. I also do not think that the developers are trying to hoodwink people and screw them out of getting refunds for this game. However, I do think that they could have struck gold with this game if they had just waited and made one big game instead of these little bite sized chunks!
Pros:
- I like the setting and lore of the game
- The character designs are pretty creepy and cool
- I think that they have something here with the story
- This is an improvement over the second game
Cons:
- The game is padded to hell and is artificially extended!
- The gameplay is very basic and the whole game feels like it needed more development time

Game Reviews
Three years after the original game, Euphoric Brothers has released a sequel that expands upon the nightmare fuel of childhood memories turned awry. In Garten of Banban 3, players once again take on the role of a parent searching for their missing child, though this time the kindergarten holds more sinister secrets than previously imagined. So let’s get deeper into the mysteries of Garten of Banban 3.
About the game
While the cheerful and colorful setting remains largely the same, the dilapidated facility has now descended deeper into chaos and decay. New horrors have infested the once joyful playground, inflicting madness and mutating the inhabitants into grotesque abominations. Puzzles that were unsettling in the first game have now become lethal deathtraps, requiring split second thinking to navigate without meeting a gruesome end.
Garten of Banban 3 taps into fears of innocence lost and childhood wonder corrupted by darkness. However, where Lament of Innocence focused on the threat of an outside sinister force, Banban 3 assumes the cheerful setting itself has become the villain through slow, gradual decay and descent into madness. This allows for a more unsettling psychological despair that persists even after completing the game.
Storyline and Atmosphere
The storyline of Garten of Banban is compelling and well-crafted. The player takes on the role of a parent searching for their child in the abandoned kindergarten. As the player delves deeper into the establishment, they will uncover the dark secrets that lie within and encounter various characters that add to the game's overall lore.
The game's atmosphere is one of its strongest points. The abandoned kindergarten is filled with unsettling imagery and creepy sound effects that will keep players on edge. The game's use of lighting and shadows is also well-done, adding to the overall immersion. Garten of Banban's storyline and atmosphere can be compared to other classic horror games like Outlast and Amnesia: The Dark Descent.
By expanding the scope, increasing the threats and further perverting nostalgic memories, Euphoric Brothers has created an experience that surpasses even the first Banban title in unsettling tone and grimstock. Garten of Banban 3 deserves recognition as one of the most disturbing entries in the survival horror genre and a sobering reminder of terror that started joyfully but ended in madness.
Review: 8.5/10
Garten of Banban 3 is a frighteningly effective trip down nightmare fuel memory lane. Though not for all, players willing to brave its creepy halls will find much to unsettle in the terrors it reveals of joy corrupted and innocence lost.
Overall, simply put, Garten of Banban 3 is horror at its most unsettlingly surreal and bleak. A sobering experience that stays with players long after leaving its grim kindergarten behind.
Pros:
- Well-crafted storyline with an intriguing plot.
- Immersive atmosphere that keeps players on edge.
- Responsive controls and well-done camera angles.
- Great soundtrack that adds to the overall immersion.
Cons:
- The game's puzzles can be repetitive and can become tedious after a while.
- The game's graphics are not up to par with other modern horror games.
- The game's length is relatively short, and it can be completed in a few hours.
