Grandia 3 is the most grand game I’ve come across in a long time. It has some of the most interesting plot developments and the gameplay is some of the best of its time. I especially like the ability to combo enemies out like they said something about your momma. The game also lets you swing a massive sword that’s like twice the size of anything realistic, and that is cool in and of itself.
The best comparison I can give you for what this game is like is this… Imagine a more free Final Fantasy style game but with Kingdom Hearts’ style art and characters. I really like the thought they put into the story of the game. That is definitely my favorite part of the game.
The Story:10/10
On the world with no name, our story takes place on a continent that’s inside the Belion Sea. This massive body of water is so large that only one character actually knows what it’s like to fly across, a Sky Captain, Captain Schmidt. Yuki, our hero from Anfog, a small village on Titalos Island, has much to learn to complete his story! This game has the best story I’ve ever gotten all the way through, and I highly recommend playing through it.
Art: 9/10
This is easily one of the most beautiful games of its time, however games have come a long way in this category since then.
Gameplay: 9/10
I thought this game was going to just be turn based like Final Fantasy, but I was ecstatic to see how much you could roam around and do for yourself! Action to the max!
Overall
Another thing about this game that I thought was really interesting is the use of context clues in the third part of the story. They really let you know what’s going to happen at the end of the game, but they never actually make a character say anything about it. It’s hard to explain without giving you any spoilers, so I’ll leave it there.
I had a really good time playing this game, and I hope you do too!
Pros:
- This game looks amazing
- I enjoy the strategy aspects of the game
- The story and setting are top notch
Cons:
- None, I literally just wish there was more of this game
