If you’re looking for a game to keep your mind occupied, Grow: Song of the Evertree can easily fulfill that role. Although the name of this title is quite the mouthful, that’s the only place that it’s overwhelming.

Story

The game takes set in Alaria, a world abandoned and invaded by the Withering. Alaria, once a vibrant planet of life, has faded, and the Evertree, a tree with worlds on its branches, has shriveled to a sapling, leaving the beauty only as a memory. As an Everheart Alchemist, you must nourish, care for, and develop new worlds from the branches of the Evertree.

As you construct the realm, former residents return and Alaria begins to take shape once again. Most importantly, when more residents return, it is critical to converse with them, learn from them, and eventually, through their experiences, witness the world expand as you utilize their stories to construct a dream town. This is a detail that is reminiscent of games like Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Stardew Valley.

Perfect gameplay pacing

Grow: Song of the Evertree is home to a plethora of wildlife and plants, and you're encouraged to not only explore it all, but to do it at your leisure. You may either craft from wildlife or become friends with them and avoid doing so. You may choose to develop the environment in whatever manner you desire, which means that your experience is very much tailored to your play-style.

You may spend your time exploring caverns, producing minerals and flowers, fishing and catching bugs, and forming communities by chatting to others. There is no timeframe to limit your activities during a play session, and there is no need to finish the game quickly. Grow: Song of the Evertree is really comfy in that there is no pressure to play a specific way, no factors of not feeling like you're missing components, and to be honest, it's a game that actually seems like I can simply take my time.

Awesome world design

The way you create new universes, on the other hand, is fascinating. Using World Seeds, you may create entirely new planets with distinct features based on your alchemy skills. You tend to such worlds in order to revitalize them, and you observe how they evolve and develop both as a result of your influence and on their own. The variety of worlds is breathtaking, including meadows, deserts, freezing realms, and more. While the preview event was restricted in scope, if the games' complete environments are as beautiful and loaded with character as what I witnessed, there is so much more to come.
